It just goes to show there is no one real answer to this question - it comes down to personal choice. On my MY01 running on 18" Pzeros there was horrible tramlining and the wet grip was pretty poor. Fit S03s and totally transformed the car! Both wet and dry grip have been improved and there is no hint of tramlining as there was the Pzeros!

Have heard that the SO3's seem to handle a bit better the larger the rim but the SO3'S on 16"s....trust me on this one, they ain't no good on 16's and I really challenge anyone tofind the SO3's on 16's better than Toyos.

I know it's all horses for courses as you said but the difference really is staggering. Maybe the 4 SO3's I had on previously were just a bad bacth of tyres..?

Cheers

Ahh, you may have the answer then...got two "free" SO3's 215/40/17 from the insurance company, so after much debating we risked it and put two more on the rears when we got the car back rather than wasting two new tyres.

TBH I love them, I'd even go as far as saying they're better than the half worn SO2's for fastish road use - although obviously they havn't been tryed on a track. Could just be the fact they suit my driving style though :) Seem to hold better whilst putting hte power down out of corners, but to be fair the geometry's been checked since so it's not a fair direct comparison with the 2's, just MHO :D

I had Pzeros on 18, Mich Pilot Sports on 17 and 'Stone S-03 and RE-01. The 2 last are far and away the best (esp in the wet) - S-03 was my fav of the lot.

As noted, horses for courses. I'll be getting some S-03s again next time round if I can afford them.

I'm on my second set of SO-3's 16" and think they are fab :D

I had 225/35/18 S02's and those were great. Stuck like glue and ver very stiff sidewalls.

Now I have 225/40/18 S03's and although grips seems about the same, the sidewalls are so much softer. I don't know if the change from 35 to 40 profile did all of it but softer they are. And they seem to be a lot more sensitive to tire pressure. I had to go down a lot from the S02 to the S03 to get max grip.

Shreiked with delight as the much hated SO3's were taken off on Saturday morning and already (even after only around 200 miles) the toyo proxes feel so much better than the SO3's ever did.

Only slight thing being you need to wait a fraction of a second longer to get the power down coming out of bends (due to stiffer side wall in the SO3's I think and hopefully when fully bedded in this will even out with the Toyos) but in every other way (especially the wet) they win hands down. Also cured brutal tramlining experienced throughout my SO3 hell..!

PS I got 4 x 205/50 x 16W from mytyres.net delivered (when they said they would...!)for 294.80...!
