ABS on very icey road - this morning - stopped in seconds - no slide - no skid - but does it really have to THUNK... that loud?
...glad I'm not paying for a rear shunt... and it was a Nova (hmmmmm!) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif (I like this one http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif) |
Penni,
you must be wrong, ABS doesnt work on ice, read the other posts properly http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif robski |
If you're going in a straight line on ice then ABS will work fine. It's just you shouldn't expect it to stop you if you're already going sideways......
Maybe it was ABS on snow you were thinking of...? Dave |
Penni,
If the roads were very icy, why did you have to brake so hard? Did the Nova pull out in front of you or were you following/catching up with it? BTW: Yes, the subaru abs "Thunks" as it works, maybe embarrasing the driver a little, but saving the day anyway. No, ABS doesn't have to thunk that much, for example ABS on a ford mondeo is extremely fast acting and quiet in operation. If it really bothers you that much, you could mail me off-line and I will arrange for you to swap cars with my girlfriend (don't worry, it is a zetec!). http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Moray |
What happened was: - I wasn't driving too fast nor was the car in front of me (A Nova) - but the car in front of the Nova suddenly decides, we're going right (and we're going to do it NOW!) SO the Pratt - indicates, stops and turns -
The girl in Nova in front of me has literally 30 seconds to stop and she did nearly hit the guy - she did skid, The Nova's brake lights were not working - and I realise - oh sh************t and hit the brakes - that's what happened, and I stopped in a straight line, on the nose...! P |
Wow, if the nova took literally 30 seconds to stop, it must have been going it some! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
