My wife owns a 1989 Subaru Justy that has been a great car. Rust has been the major problem over the years, but a new gas tank and brake lines fixed that. The body is very bad now, but the engine is still great.

I am eyeing the engine up for possible use in a home built car after the Locost Seven style. I am wondering if Subaru ever made a transmission that fit the Justy for rear wheel drive applications. Not front and rear wheel drive as is the Justy, but rear wheel only. Anyone know?
Thanks

AFAIK theres only 4wd amf FWD justy's no rear whell drive, not being very tecjy my self, but might it be poss to use the 4wd transmission and "block off/transfer case" the front wheel output??? i know some kit car builders have used the flat four from the scoobie with 4wd tranmissions for rear engined rear wheel driv eapplications...

Cheers ;)

Just stick the justy engine onto a RWD gearbox, you will need an adaptor plate and will have to be a bit creative in the cutch department but it can be done. That was how Lotus did it in the first place, pick an engine, use a Minor/Marina or Cortina/Escort 'box and an axle of your choosing.
