I am looking for some advice on the best performance mods.

I have a UK 1998 turbo with 43K on the clock.
The only mods I have made are a scooby sport back box and ITG air filter. (Plus 17" OZ alloys and a decent rear spoiler).

I am considering an ecu remap/change.
I understand the PPP is probably the best up-grade.
Is it possible to just have the ECU mod rather than the complete package as I already have an upgraded exhaust and air filter, plus the £1800-£1900 cost is outside my budget.

I have been recommended the unichip in preference to the superchip by my local superchip fitter.
What other options are available?
I don't want to chance any mods which can cause engine damage.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Try and get hold of a used PPP ECU separately?

Or get a Link ECU?

John's right IMHO, BUT....

Why go for something so expensive?

A stainless decatted downpipe and centre would give decent gains for a fraction of the cost (even less 2nd hand) and even John's old favourite ;) the Dawes for a mere £35 or thereabouts.

Those mods alone could see you well above 250bhp.

Cheers

Rich

Don't know how it would work with the Impreza but I would consider an electronic boost controller (EVC IV works very well) as I've had some great success with them on other cars (MR2 turbo, GTO, RX7). I've seen somewhere on here that they may not agree with the MY01 but I may have misread that.

£1800 for the PPP??
Is this one of those anomolies in life that make no sense.
We have high VAT, we also have Duty and we have to import from the UK but the PPP for a MY01 in Ireland costs euro2500 = £1600 fitted.

Maybe you lot should start buying your PPP from here mail order and fitting it yourself.

Thanks for the advice.

I have spoken to Scoobysport and shall be getting the scoobysport down pipe and de-cat centre section fitted to complement the scoobysport back box I already have.

Only prob is the emissions check for the MOT.
I guess you just get the cat re-fitted for the emisions checks..

Think this is the safer and more reliable way to improve performance.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's a Dawes, what does it do?
