try the password "admin"

If not then try http://www.consume.net/mhonarc/thenet/msg03476.html

Might help, not sure though cause I'm thick when it comes to routers :D

[Edited] Just to add to search for the word password and you'll find a few links about resetting the password.

Hi folks, just a query about the generic Efficient Networks 'BT' Black ADSL routers.
I am well versed in flashing/reprogramming these puppies, but only in their full 5861 setup, not the crippled BT Firmware versions. I have a spare one of the boxes and want to reflash it to a full EN5861 box, but the bugger seems to have a generic password to access properly. I have checked a couple of our ones too and the seems to be protected also. Does anyone know what the password could possibly be?

Cheers,

Nick :)

Can't you just tftp the new firmware over after hitting the hard-reset ( small hole on the underside ) ?

I have a 'crippled' 5861 at home that i'd like to use but couldn't get the thing to upload the new firmware...

Any pointers gratefully received :)

Steve

Can't remember as it was some time ago tht I last tried, but I believe that I had the same problem as you with the BT one. I think that the password is going to hold the key to me doing this.....

I had a thing from demon a while back about a firmware upgrade for these boxes. If I can dig it out and download the update, I could try taking the file(s) apart and see if there is anything usefull in there....

Cheers,

Nick :)

Boooo, sorry it was not a file download version, you have to connect with certain credentials then the router is checked and updated if necessary with the newest crippled firmware. :(

You might also look at http://www.farina1.com/ put 5861 in the search box.

Cheers guys, the farina1 link was spot on. The first result has the necessary details! :D

God bless Scoobynet and all that sail her! :D

Cool, it really wasn't any more difficult than reflashing the normal ones!

Now I just have a router that I don't know what to do with!

Cheers,

Nick :D
