To cut a long story short, driving home on Thurs (?) last week, I hit a pot hole in the road. The result of which is that my tyre wall has now got a whooping buldge, obviously where the tyre wall has been damaged and weakened.

I will claim of the council for the cost of the 'replacement' tyre, but this is the problem.

Car was exported from uk with 4 newish Goodyear Eagle F1 205/50ZR16 tyres. Tread from back looks like inverted V.

I'm not sure if these are available in NZ, and need advice as what to put on.

I need advice about mixing tyres.

all four tyres should have similiar tread depth

I'd be very cautious about using different tyres in a set. Best bet is to see if you can get an F1 in NZ somewhere. At least you're in Auckland - ought to give the biggest choice?

yes, F1 eagles are available in NZ, although not the Z rated tyres (not sure how fast these are rated to), but V rated tyres (240kmph) are available.



Question....

How will tread wear affect handling.
Presumably, 3x half worn tyres and 1x new tyre is not ideal, but how bad will handling be ?

Will this be compounded in the wet ?

Bought my new tyre today, and guess what, the tread has a different pattern.

Still interested in opinions.........

IMHO

I am sure the owners manual says something about replacing tyres in pairs or all 4's so not to screw up the 4wd, rolling radius will be different due to the wear on your old tyres, depends how worn they are.
