My 1999 Sti will be 3 years old next year. It's got a bloody great HKS Super Dragger exhaust and De-Cat pipe on it which were there when i got it.

So what happens at the MOT, am i going to be scratching round trying to find a cat? If so, where...?

ANyone else faced this problem?

Dont know if its true or not but i was told by a mot tester that if the car is a import that was not destined for this country it should be tested as having no cat.

Try ringing the number on the back of a old mot certififcate and see what they say.

Sounds expensive! Why the huuuge smile?

Dave T-S 27 May 2001 08:38 AM

No, not expensive - there are "loan" cats around available for hire for an MOT if you get my meaning.....

Dave T-S 27 May 2001 07:26 PM

Scoobynutter - yes you are totally correct, I forgot this......imports go through a different procedure.

RussP 28 May 2001 02:11 AM

I really hoped you'd say that!

My thoughts were that if the car wasn't ever sold in this country that there's no spec for cat/emissions.

Cheers guys!

Russ
