Today I picked up my brand new WRX Sports Wagon, I previously had a company car. But I have kept up my insurance for the last 3 years on my wife's car (Rover 214). So I had 7 years no claims in total. Because of the no claims I wanted to change this to the WRX and set my wife up with a starting from new policy (one lady driver in 1.4 low mileage - premium wouldn't be that much I thought).

My insurance is with Admiral. So I ring them and say that I want to check out the quote they can give me and thought that they would charge me the going rate for the Subaru (about £800 - £1000) I have seen online.

They then tell me if I keep my insurance with them and insure my wife from new my 7 years no claims will be spread across both cars. Not bad I thought.

Then I ask for a WRX quote and it comes out at £489, I had to ask the guy twice that this was WRX quote and not the GX. It is luckily.

So it seems to keep my business and generate new business (my wife) they are willing to offer me a great deal. Not sure how this helps you guys, but perhaps if you have two cars ask them if they can do a deal for both and see if it offers you a discount.

BTW I'm 30, do 15k miles/yr, car kept over night on the road and in an area not particularly low in crime area.

That is VERY good.

8 months ago they quoted me GBP1500 (with GBP500 excess) for a WRX with PPP. Over 40, decent post-code, parked off-road, 10 years without a claim (but sadly not NO-claim as it was with a company car).

Maybe i'll try again at renewal?

Admiral were good on 1st year with the scoob, pants on renewal.

I had been with them for 6 or 7 years with various motors and the first full year with the MY01 (vanilla - no mods) was 760 - odd. Renewal came around and it was £1201 !

Greenlight now have my business :)

Double check and ask them to confirm that they are insuring the right car. i thought the same until the policy came through and i realised that the time i'd spent explaining what WR Sport was had obviously been forgotten!! I'm with privilege (sp?) they seem to know all about the different types of scooby.
