Disc warp
 

Hi all….
I have a rear disc that with clockwork precision warps after a year of use(it’s a daily)
I have rebuilt the caliper,made sure the disc mounting flange is smooth when fitting the disc..
the question is:could a worn bearing or corroded back plate cause this to happen..
getting fed up with replacing discs and pads every year…..I feel I’m being robbed 😂

A crusty backing plate wont cause a warped rotor.
But I think a worn bearing potentially could. It would allow the wheel and rotor to move off its true axis and thus be out of alignment with the calliper.

But tell us more about the set up. What make of pads and rotors are you using? Do you drive like a granny or like your pants are on fire? Empty car or towing a 2 tonne trailer everywhere?!

If it makes you feel better it only took me a week of hammering my old Mondeo estate around Milton Keynes, full of equipment to warp both new front rotors. Took it back to garage and they kept asking if I'd done a trackday in it 😂

thanks for the reply,they are brembo discs and pads..I have converted it to 2 pots.
it doesn’t get driven to death just a bit of spirited driving now and then,I don’t even sit with my foot on the brakes when sat at the lights..

if they aren't worn get the disc skimmed which often cures things as virgin discs can "stabilise" after initial; use..........
if you have 2pots make sure the pads are not jammed in the caliper by corrosion build up between the end shim and alloy caliper
