Replacing gear linkage bushings in GC8!
Need to replace all the bushings in my gear linkage as my gearstick flop is unbearable now! I have a 1993 GC8 (pre-facelift), but all the bushing kits etc online all seem to be for later model GC8s... anyone know if I can just use all the same bushings?
Pics attached are all of my gear linkage. Wanted to buy a kit like this but says 96 onwards only, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283780178...7Nh1Uc8GAAAAAA This one says it'll fit my car but it doesn't have a replacement universal joint just the bushing for it and I don't really want that. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283780088...8aAmu9EALw_wcB Surely they should be all interchangeable?? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...e48c3d5dfd.jpg rear bushing https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...eb9a2e2519.jpg universal joint https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...38f38f81c0.jpg universal joint https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...869e4b389d.jpg universal joint https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...d114ca0af8.jpg universal joint |
in general its the UJ bushings at issue (despite what some so called 'specialists' claim??)
the factory ones are made from a very light poly material and simply degrade over time we tend to make / supply nylon kits albeit with the the early cars there are a few variations size wise so you would need to measure the UJ bushes required later kits are NOT suitable as the component parts do not interchange |
Ah okay, understood. My other concern is that someone historically has already converted my 92-94 gear linkage system to the later 90s one as the UJ looks the same? Do you reckon it's still the original based upon the photos?
Where am I able to purchase the parts required from you guys?? |
Should have noted that my GC8 is a JDM import...
