looks like the Reg ends in 22b - wonder who owned it !??

Flat4x4-again 15 June 2023 07:47 PM

Or why its ended up at a Coparts Auction !

If it was yours, you'd be straight down one of the specialist auction houses? Wonder what's *actually* wrong with it ?

1509joe 15 June 2023 08:48 PM

It's a V4 V Limited..

Not listed here unless they've misquoted the VIN...

Interesting.

TheVoices 15 June 2023 10:37 PM

Current bid is £70,000 plus, if it isn't a real 22B, someone is not going to be happy !

Presumably they would also have legal redress with Copart if it is being miss described.

jaygsi 15 June 2023 10:50 PM

I think anyone can list a car on Copart, but my question would be why, surely not going to get good money on there for it.

Simple answer is because it's not real, as Joe has already said. They're obviously just hoping to dupe someone. It's a decent replica but that's it, nothing more than that. I would take a punt that that mileage is incorrect too looking at that clutch pedal. I'm surprised the bids are so high as presumably anyone buying a 22b would have done their homework.

IdonthaveaScooby 16 June 2023 12:34 PM

I guess you can stick any badge you want on back your car , Volkswagen "R" , Mercedes 'AMG'

RobsyUK 16 June 2023 12:57 PM

I'm on a co parts victims page on fb and the stuff that happens there is shocking.

Co part bump bids, they also take bits off cars and sell them separately. *all third mouth of course.

Sadly someone abroad will be bidding on that car and be shafted.

jaygsi 16 June 2023 12:59 PM

Wow that's crazy, my goodness someone is not going to be happy. Sure they could sue for misrepresentation. If its not a 22B you can't call it that.

I wonder, if I changed my Dacia Sandero badges to Mercedes C63 AMG would the car would be worth a bit more when I sell it? :wonder:

jaygsi 16 June 2023 05:35 PM

Completely missed that.

JdmSti2006 16 June 2023 05:46 PM

it had B after 22,they changed it and how they can value it at 150k pounds🤣

TheVoices 16 June 2023 08:53 PM

I had another think about this, another slight possibility is that it is not one of the 16 'official' UK 22B's

If it is a Japanese import, it could have ended up showing as a V4 STi on the registration document ?

Possibly due to a DVLA mix up, or alternatively, no SVA report available for 22B when the car was imported, so used the STi V4 SVA report to get it registered in the UK ?

There is no way that someone is going to get away with selling it for £70k plus if it is a fake.

stockcar 17 June 2023 08:21 AM

thats possible, HOWEVER you can't change the fact that the Model Code doesn't relate to a 22B..............

jaygsi 17 June 2023 09:10 AM

Thought it did, not sure why they changed it.

Not just them but others seem to bump bids; I registered with ASM (also operates under various other names) as we needed a 1.3 multijet engine for a customer with a dead Doblo who did not want to pay for a new/recon engine and because they are such a shyte engine 90% of used ones already removed and being sold are knackered and/or overpriced. So best bet was to buy a whole vehicle that had clear crash damage, so chances are engine would be at least a half decent runner and just needed the basics (chain, service, etc). And still have rest of vehicle to break to cover the overheads.

Every vehicle we tried to bid on was clearly being shill bidded, even with bids above a reasonable value we'd be outbid by a sniper in the last few seconds and auction end time automatically adds another ten minutes to the end time. We gave up when prices were going beyond the value of a undamaged version of the same vehicle, this happened on over 20 vehicles we bidded on (the same engine is fitted in lots of various Fiats, Alfas, Vauxhalls, Suzukis, as well as Peugeot/Citroen vans so I was bidding on all sorts). Auction ends, reserve met, with a alleged winning bidder. Lo and behold, two weeks later it's back on there, identical photos so clearly not been bought, yet supposedly had a winning bidder?

Most laughable was a Hybrid full-fat LWB Range Rover P400e, 2yrs old, stolen recovered. Starting price £30k, nearly hooked me on it (I mean, why not? LoL). Something was sus as the wheels changed in the photos and there was wiring mess in there boot area where the HV battery electrics are. I'm guessing it had no wheels and the hybrid battery had been nicked, so factored that in. Nowhere in description did it mention this. Auction ends at over £70k !!!! with a winning bidder. You can easily buy a undamaged one for that much. Week later...it's back on the auction, same pics. It sells again, and relisted again, and again, and again.

Got fed up of the BS by then and went to local salvage yard who happened to have a Punto 1.3muljet that had been rear ended. Heard it running, so had that. Paid over the odds as we still needed to change the chain, and it had the later oil pump that needed to be replaced with the older type (had to buy new pump as old engine was wrecked). Even then it spat its turbo out a month later, put old turbo on and that was fecked too.

Well there's a picture of a wheel and another one on the listing with big ignorant spacers on it. That should tell you it's not a 22B. Plus it's not even a Type r it's a V limited which grew very wide arches somehow.
