Current model Merc A class

Anyone know much about them?
Im not talking fire breathing full fat AMG models but your average run of the mill models.

My 19 year old son has just bought one. It’s a 2019 model A180 AMG-line premium plus, so top spec but base engine. I know it has the multi link rear suspension, and the 136 brake version of the 1.3 four pot turbo, but I don’t really know anything about them.

I don’t even know if they are cam chain or belt. Anyone know if there are any known faults with them or anything that we need to look out for.

if its anything like my brothers AMG C63 (now binned) then it will be full of warranty issues.............
just like BMW it seems modern German cars are garbage and far worse built than they were 30years ago!!

Same engine? He did reserve a 200 model but the reservation ended the day before he got paid and someone else bought it!
I believe same engine though, 1.3 turbo in different states of tune. From what I have read these are Renault engines.

various electrical as well as engine related when it basically totally shut down at Autobahn speed just before the M18 junction.........
they admitted to fitting a full set of coilpacks, MAF, etc and to be fair it was OK afterwards but not really reassuring.......

among the electric issues it needed a complete set of both LED headlights, control units, etc and if it weren't for warranty then it was a £6K+ bill

to be fair the previous M5 it replaced whilst better mechanically had lots of trim issues and was also a 'buy back'.......
