Acquired a Subaru - query on value & how to sell
I have recently 'acquired' a Subaru Impreza WRX.... it was being stored in a garage I own, but the tenant has not paid rent for several months and has stopped replying to any correspondence. I have advised him that if rent isn't paid then I will dispose of anything left in the garage.
DVLA have advised me that there is no Registered Keeper for the vehicle, so I believe I should be able to either register the vehicle in my own name, or just sell it with the new owner registering it themselves. The car has been in the garage since 2017, and I have the keys, however I have no information as to whether the vehicle is in working condition. Vehicle Info according to DLVA are as follows: Vehicle make - SUBARU Date of first registration - July 2000 Year of manufacture - 1994 Cylinder capacity - 2000cc CO2 emissions - Not Available Fuel type - Petrol Euro status - Not Available Real Driving Emissions (RDE) - Not Available Export marker - No Vehicle status - Untaxed Vehicle colour - White Vehicle type approval - Not Available Wheelplan - 2 AXLE RIGID BODY Revenue weight - Not Available Date of last V5C (logbook) issued - 25 March 2017 Any advice on what this car may be worth, and the best way of selling it would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to spend time / money on any repairs, I just want to sell as is. Cheers, Tim https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...059542d096.jpg |
not enough info to give any advice...it's an early car that has been messed with, so your only hope of it being worth more than a couple of Sheckles is if the mechanical bits are any good/rare, which is a challenge from a single photo. Looks like it has Trendline Recaros and Takata harnesses, which is a positive start...
Where in London are you based? |
I'm based in NW London, but the garage / car is in Herts (Hemel Hempstead).
Any suggestions on what further info could be helpful; photos internally or under the hood perhaps? |

Ah shame, thanks anyway though. I'll try and get some more photos next week and will post.

Vin number may help, under bonnet passenger side strut on plaque.

From searching using the vehicle reg, I've come up with a VIN of: GC8012509. From a quick bit of research I think this short VIN may imply it's an import, though I can't seem to find much other info.
|
A 1993 WRX, originally in Black Mica. JDM 9import.
Could be anything now though :lol1: As for value, push it out of the garage and have a good look for rot. Around the arches and sills, under the bonnet and then pull out the trim in the boot and look at the condition of the suspension turrets. Take plenty of photos and post on here. |
Check the rear wheel arches for rot as they're prone to going high up inside the turrets.

Sure I've seen it listed a while back forsale.
Guessing you have no keys so don't know if it runs etc? If its rotten, your looking at a breaker buying it. Or someone looking for a track car. I'm still looking for a WRX but guessing this one doesn't run. |

Sorry for such a delay, I've had a lot going on. These are the pics I could get, hard to get much with the car in the garage and I haven't been able to take it out.
Any tips would be much appreciated! You need to push it out of the garage and look at the body for rot underneath. Have you opened the bonnet? Does it even have an engine in it? What's the registration number?

OP you could possibly put one of them smaller trolley jacks under the rear diff and push the car providing front brakes not biting, it looks like just about. enough space maybe? if not that then you could always see if you got a mate with a winch and just drag it out. |

Yeh not everyone is that skinny now days, not to bash OP ofc, as i dont think i would be abIe to get into the car and im average build. I think with the gap in one of the pictures if you quite slim you could just about to get to it but im talking lanky skinny or even child maybe.

Does anyone have a clue on what it could be worth assuming that with a bit of TLC it’s in working order?
|
If you could find a small child to squeeze inside to let off the handbrake put it in neutral and open the bonnet, then if the battery is flat, charge it up or put jump leads on to get enough volts into it to open the windows.. (DON'T TRY STARTING IT!!) then we'll all have a better idea of its condition. The superstructure is misleading as they rot something awful underneath so it could just be a scrapper anyway.... After all, it is 30 years old. With the reg, you can go on the dvla website and do an mot history search to look for details. of any fails and advisories.... In fact I've just done it!
