Bolt in turbo swap?
Can anyone tell me if a VF43 is a direct swap into my car (2006 Hawkeye WRX STI ) seeing as it's a type UK.?

The vf43 and vf48 should be a straight swap (I thought the vf43 came as standard in the UK Hawk sti). You'll need other supporting mods to get the most out of it:
Bigger fuel pump Performance panel filter Sports cat and possibly a 3in diameter exhaust They're a great upgrade to the wrx. |
If it's a UK MY06/07 2.5l WRX STI isn't it already fitted with a VF43??

I'm unsure, I read that the JDM models had a "better turbo" than Type UK cars. I wanted to check it's a direct swap for my car. I'm sure you are right though. Once again thank you for the reply. I found this "(250-325whp, Bolt-On)
This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the MY07 USDM Subaru Impreza WRX STI. It can be found on both base STI’s and STI Limited’s. The VF43 utilizes a thrust bearing design and the P18 exhaust housing. The primary difference between the VF43 and the VF39 used previously on STI’s seems to be the stiffness of the wastegate. The VF43 has a stiffer wastegate designed to reduce boost creep issues. Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 3000-3500rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles that utilize this turbo aftermarket." |
JDM models, from MY03, have twin scroll turbos (VF37) and are all 2.0L The turbo is not a straight swap.
You seem to be quoting from the "Subaru Standard Fit Turbo List" (RaceDynamix, NASIOC and other sites) which was put together by NASIOC members and has also been quoted on here. As both the USDM and EDM/AUSDM MY06/07 WRXSTI are all 2.5L they all use the same turbo (VF43 - p/n 14411AA620 /AA6209L). https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...ac4a9a4d2c.png |
as above std fit on the Hawk STi 2.5 is VF43 with the VF48 used on the later UK Hatch STi cars.........
