Insurance recommendations

Can anyone recommend any good Subaru insurance companies please?

Also, can anyone recommend good Scooby mechanics in the West London area?
I'd rather work with individuals, rather than garages - mostly maintainance work but, hopefully some upgrades too :-)

Insurance only one, Keith Michaels.

Renewed Friday, from most to least expensive:
Aplan, Keith Michael's, Brentacre, Lancaster classics, AIB.

AIB for the win.

my money is Aplan in thatcham , i got crashed into they were very good to deal with , the other party finally accepted it was their fault 👍 , Subaru4u or Fb tuning , both garages but both good at what they do

I'm trying to reduce my outgoings but other than Keith Michaels do any of the others mentioned do a blanket cover on all mods.

I live in London and I ring all the usual suspects each year come renewal time. For years no-one has been able to come close to the cover and premiums offered by Classicline, underwritten by ERS. I've not had to claim from them yet though.

As soon as you tell them a London postcode many insurers become reluctant to touch an Impreza, so the good experiences of those who don't live in London may not be relevant, I'm afraid.

Having said that my car is 1997 model and is not my 'main' car. If yours is a lot newer or is your main car then it may not qualify for a classic policy.

Another vote for FB Tuning in Princes Risborough for maintenance. He's an excellent mapper as well.

I know exactly what your are saying mate. Try mentioning you're from Birmingham and you get that uneasy gasp. But you want to insure a German car with 800bhp no problem.

I have been with Keith Michaels for pretty much 12 years up until last year where I used a comparison site and Churchill of all companies came back with the best deal for a limited mileage policy. £220 a year fully comp with business use, I couldn't believe it myself and Keith Michaels couldn't touch it, so worth using a comparison just in case.

Do you have mods mate. I personally found normal insurers wouldn't touch them and if they did prices were insane. Hence why I have stuck with a specialist. :)

Aplan , have not given me any hassle over mods , one cars running 440 bhp , the mod being an extra 100 bhp over standard , insurance is around 400 , for a heavily modified 5.7 v8 , but as i said had the bump and they were good , not much good if it’s cheaper somewhere else but do a bad job , comparison sites often no good , as they can’t often deal with mods , try all the companies and see what you want , i’ve been a plan for the last 15 years or so 👍

Same here with mods most were over priced, and only wanted you to include a few mods, mine has quite a few, and seen as my mate was involved in a crash and Keith Michaels paid him out and he got to keep his car.

Some insurances don't let you do that, i would want to keep mine as I'd transfer the parts to another shell.

If your not including mods or don't have any, then yes any insurance company will do.

I do have a few mods and all are declared, part of the reason I was so surprised to be honest. I did end up ringing and speaking to a human and we made tweaks to the policy such as annual mileage to get to the £220 price. The guy was very helpful to be honest, you don't always get that...

The other thing on my side is that I have owned the car for 16 years, think that really does play a part in getting a good quote.

Not holding my breath on the renewal of course, I am sure it will be silly and I will have to shop around.

Thank-you to everyone who replied :-):-):-)

After a bit of a haggle I went with my existing insurer but, got to give out a shout to Keith Micheals who were at least £100 better.

Still after a recommendation for a good Scooby Mechanic in the London area.....

Cheers,
Rich.
