Spec C RA No.2
A few weeks ago I sold 'Frank', my spec c project car. It didn't take long to replace him, here's the new one. I've known this car for quite a while and know how well the owner has taken care of it so when he mentioned to me that he was thinking of selling it, I jumped at the chance to take it from him!
The car looks standard from the outside and retains the rare parts such as the pink adjustable shocks and ultra light wheels. But beneath the surface there are some tweaks that enhance the drivability, here's a list: - HKS Induction kit - HKS headers - Sard sports cat - HKS Hi-power exhaust - Zero Sports LSD & extended diff case - 3 port BS - Genuine pink STi front & rear ARB's (these were a catalogue option on these) -Carbing front alloy subframe - Cusco rear brace - Cusco rear diffuser - Defi gauges (oil temp & pressure, water temp & boost) - S204 matt black dash I haven't been able to do much with the car yet other than a service and new disks and pads. I'll get some better pictures up when I have more time on it. The plan for this one is to be more of a daily and occasional track day while the other one is reserved for fair weather and shows. The car drives really well and is more responsive that my other one. Power is around the 360bhp mark I believe. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...b6e2dcd3fc.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...ad2b5b809d.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...91449de48b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...20d673528c.jpg My mates 720L. Yes, very! I almost bought another one the other week too but it wasn't right in the end, I'm not sure the wife would've been happy about that though! :fight: |

The spoiler is the standard RA one. I think its the same as on the S202, I'll check in May when I'm doing a show with a chap that has one. |

Just seen this Spec C on eBay, bloody hell:freak3:! |
Yep, that’s one’s been for sale a little while. Ridiculous price really. The RA’s are getting rare now, especially in this condition. Would cost well in to the 30’s to import one now, and that’s if you can find one. It’s a shame to have to let one go but at least I have another one and that’s not going anywhere!

Perfect weather for late evening country lane outings. :norty:

The car didn't sell earlier in the year so I've continued to tidy it up. Changed out the old rubber brake hoses for Hel braided ones and fresh Motul600 fluid. I had the wheels refurbished before I went away for the summer so they can now go back on and I changed the oil and filter. On Friday it goes in for an underside deep clean, decontamination and full cavity wax underseal. It was underselaed in the past with waxoil (as you can see in the picture) which has done a good job but we'll be trying to remove as much of that as possible before covering with clear Dinitrol. I also have some new OEM arch liners to go on after that. Pictures to follow once complete. At this point in time I'm still enjoying it. I will probably relist it or put it on collecting cars in the spring though as I really don't need 2 of them (as nice as it is!).

very nice indeed. looking forward to the progress updates of the work ahead

Car has now had the underside done. The process starts with cleaning everything before moving on to a rust encapsulation and the final stage is to apply the wax. As I've mentioned already, the car had previously been undersealed with black Waxoil which proved to be a real pig to remove. Given how thin the paint is on these cars, we decided to just remove and flaky areas but leave the stubborn stuff to avoid doing any damage. Even though this car has done around 25k miles on UK roads, it is still rust free and surprisingly clean under there. Just a shame that the Waxoil didn't come off easily as it does look a bit unsightly. It could probably be removed with a decent glue and tar remover but that process would be long and tedious and wouldn't add anything so I'd rather spend my time working on other things. Brakes are spot on now and the car is driving perfectly again. I'm now considering starting to remove some of the modifications to make it more attractive to potential buyers next year but I'm conflicted as I know that by removing them it will make the car worse to drive...
