Being towed with a non-OEM splitter in place?

98 uk car, with an aftermarket STi V6 splitter.
Car's been moved twice by a recovery truck, being loaded by it's rear end.
But what if it breaks down on a busy motorway?

My eldest, a plater by trade, is on about making a dropped towing eye from a large lifting shackle and a piece of 10mm steel plate welded up. It could be carried in the boot and fitted if needed.
But before we do, first off, is there anything available to buy? Or what do others do?

And what of modifying the splitter, which is bonded in place, to make part removable, similar to an OEM P1?
It seems to be made of something like very high density expanded PU.

Have a look on ebay , any thing from towing straps to screw in towing eyes , on a different car i have a strap with a bolt into a subframe bolt hole , the screwed in towing eye the actual towing eye hook/loop can be at a 90 degree angle to the threaded part which gives you other options , i’ve seen people weld into the front bumper the relevant screw thread for a towing eye 👍

Had my classic towed with all 4 wheels on the ground and on a flat bed/trailer a few times. No issues at all if done properly.

When you say yours is aftermarket does it sit a lot lower than oem.

Edited to add when I sent the car to Matty's him and the lads there pushed down on the tow truck so the front wouldn't catch when being unloaded.

Lots of straps on Demon Tweeks site
eg:

The one fitted to mine is a copy of an STi v5/6 one made in PU by HT Autos.
So no lower than an OEM one .
But the towing eye sits at bumper base height, so above the splitter.
Any wire for towing/recovery would destroy it.
What stopped that happening on original cars?
On the P1 there was a removable panel for towing on the nearside.
But there's nowt on even a genuine STi one.
