Blobeye lights crappy

Hi all hope your all well.

ive just started driving my impreza in the dark for the first time and the headlights are really crappy next to even a mk5 golf 😢

are all blobeye headlights as bad or do I need new set of headlight bulbs?
Also the lenses on the headlights are clear no tints or sun fade p

all info links and advice appreciated in advance 👍

New bulbs should do the trick.

Might not be the cheapest so shop around. Don't bother with the 150+ version because its the same bulb being pushed more so don't last very long at all.

JDM HIDs FTW

Great cut-off and doesn't blind others, you won't look back: https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/p...al-led-h1-twin
Check which one is your fitment but Ultinon are the ones you want.

I've bought a set of led ones for my classic, will fit those soon.

I’ve got the Philips pro 9000 in my work van. What a difference and the cut off is still the same as the standard bulbs. Well worth the money.

I'd a set of China's finest LED bulbs on my blobeye up until last month when one blew. They were fine, but not actually much brighter. Whiter? For sure. But other than being great at lighting up road signs and anything reflective, the actual light hitting the road wasn't great. Bit the same as 240v LED floodlights compared to halogen, the light just doesn't travel as well.

Also bare in mind that on the blobeye you won't be able to fit the dust covers on with that shape of LED bulb.

Osram Night breakers you mean ?

TECHNOPUG 16 December 2021 08:31 PM

The limitation is the reflector lens that the Blobeye headlights use. You need proper projectors like the Bug/Hawkeye.

A lot of good choices and info so far thanks folks

not decided yet....
still awaiting fatties opinion on the matter to be honest..
as he did for my choice of tyres 😎

he might be a utter knob at times but a knowledgeable one👌 😁

i put the night breakers into mine , much better than before , the next bit that helped was being correctly adjusted , i just lined them up with a garage door at night and tweaked them , i upgraded my jdm hid ones too , i just did the bulb again not cheap bulbs , i tried the chinese bulbs which were crap , can’t remember the brand possibly osram or philips it was definitely a branded make , again a good improvement over the standard subaru very expensive hid bulbs , plus again adjusted properly 👍

Going to tag him here @JdmSti2006

Have you thought about a projector retrofit to your existing lights and then get a HID kit to go with those projectors. Prices have come down a lot now.

Just beware you might have fun and games come MoT time

I'm quite fat so I'll stand in for him; wanking ruins your night vision. Guess how I know?

NOSSY_89 18 December 2021 10:24 AM

Don't forget your lights might also need adjusting. Do you have electronic or manual adjusters on your JDM.

ZANY 19 December 2021 12:14 PM

There’s a manual small knob it’s on 0 is that correct?
AlwYs passes on mot time aswell
