My15 va sti ecu limits

Hi all, I'm currently having my 2015 va subaru sti engine built, surprisingly not because it went Pete tong but more to push the boundaries.
Ive sent the ej257 block off to asp in newcastle for there closed deck insert, asp 14mm studs and torque bore, they also surplied 2618 pistons and manly 650+ rods. I'm currently waiting on tim farmer to finish the build. Turbo is a owen developments gt3076 .82ar that we rotated as i dident like the kink on the inlet side. I'm hoping this will break the 500bhp mark ovs big injectors swirl pot with external pump, parallel fuel lines ect ect.
what I'm wanting to know is how far can I push the standered ecu ? will it break the 500 mark ?
thanks guys..

big bill coming- i mean syvecs🤑

I’m at 420 and I know of another at 480.

Both MY15 standard ECU and both mapped with ecutek racerom.

So yes I think 500 is possible but you will probably get better results with Syvecs.

You run out of parameters on the standard ecu.

bludgod 24 August 2021 09:25 AM

standard ecu will do that on racerom with speed density, however you'll usually get more power and better results with a standalone like syvecs. Link hasn't got anything plug and play for the dual AVCS cars yet but there's a syvecs plugin though i do think you still need to remove the TGV valves to run it.

Tgv have been removed as has the egr system. Out of curiosity How much is a syvecs unit installed ect.
thanks for the replys..

3240 quid plus 210 for a ntk lamda sensor supply only. Plus all the other sensors I would need plus mapping.
is there any other ecu options ?

Are you mapping it yourself or having someone map it for you. If your taking it somewhere then speak to them and see what they recommend and what they are happy to work with before you spend money on some random ecu that nobody will tune for you.

I would need it mapping, I wouldent know were to start lol.
Will most mappers be able to do the racerom ? Or do some do that and others do ecutek/open source ?

racerom is part of the ECUtek software - so start looking for a mapper, explain what your trying to achieve and have them recommend the best way to achieve it then give them money and job done :)

You need Yoda

You need some proper Yoda advice here as I think you’re asking the wrong questions ….

My 2016 Sti runs 489bhp @ 1.65bar - it’s a 2.3 stroker with Blouch 2.5xTR turbo & Grimmspeed tmi etc etc.

Mapped happily on Ecutek by Martyn Jeffries @ Enginetuner.

From what I understand the Ecutek limits are not being able to map past 7200rpm, only two switchable maps and not as ‘fine tuned’ as something like Syvecs.

IIRC I was told SYVECS might give me 5-10% more power and more switchable maps. For a race car pushing 800bhp maybe £3k+ is a must have investment.

For your 500bhp build I’d say it’s maybe not needed unless you have money to throw away. Ecutek will be totally fine ✅ you could spend the £3k on better big brakes all round or decent coil overs & suspension parts .

Im sure you’ve already invested in your bottom end with oil sump mods, modded pick up pipes, baffled pans, AO separators. 👍🏻

Last point - your engine builder REALLY should know everything I’ve said about the Ecutek and much more …

Thanks for that yoga lol. I've been researching like crazy onthos subject, syvecs is coming bk at just over 5k with all the sensors toucan fitting and mapping, this is not going to happen realistically.
I went with killer b pick up baffled sump and crank cover. Block was sent toaspfor closed deck inserts, there 14mm stud kit and machined for 99.75 2618 mahle pistons with manley huff 650+ rods. New rcm 11mm oil pump. I've come to learn that these newer subs don't really suffer with fuel surge, so I scrapped the swirlpot and external pump and just went with a rcm 340 in tank pump ovs with parallel fuel lines and rcm reg. Id like to use enginetunner and brake the 500 mark as I'd like the 500+ club badge lol. But realistically it will be going to rich at zen as it's closer.
Really appreciate the info, thanks for taking the time. Phil..
