Roof rack - 2005 impreza sti
Hey guys, I'm looking for a roof rack solution for my 05 sti and it seems there are very few options out there for this car. Does anyone have any suggestions?
|
Doesn't Subaru offer one? Might be worth contacting your local dealer.

I got a hold of my local Subaru dealer and apparently they don't offer a factory solution unfortunately.
|
I did find the Yakima option which seems to be the only way to go. However the only UK dealer has none in stock and when I phoned them up they werent able to say when they'll be back in stock either. ..

It seems the "clamp to the gutter versions" from all manufacturers have disappeared for the newage models.
But if you are in need, and can do some modding, this may be a solution.......using Hatch version bars. First off below the roof trim strips you will find 4 brackets (similar to the roof rail mounts on the wagon) https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...bc1ed2cd4b.png Then use the following link https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2165823 and the links shown within. |
There surely should be some new ones listed on eBay. Just keep your eyes open. I sold mine to someone on here from what I remember.
|
Here's mine. Maybe use these photos and speak to thule to see if they have an alternative.

Could be worth sending International Motors a message on eBay (impartsb46) to ask if they have any kicking about.
|
I've got a genuine Subaru roof rack which I believe is for a blobeye that I don't need, I think it is missing the adapters that bolt down to the gutters though.
I'd happily let it go to someone for cheap if it helps out. |
Doesn't look as nice as one I had, looks bulky. Will see if I can find pictures.

So to update I picked up a Yakima whispbar on ebay for only £70 (figured for this price its worth a shot). I have some additional parts en route which I'll use to try and modify the existing gutter brackets and then fit some grub screws to mount the feet to. Heres some pics of the bars sat in position to show the intended finished look.
