Looking to buy a 2003 JDM Import 2.0 Blobeye

I have found one that is for sale but he has not listed it online yet as I have told him im interested. It was imported October 2020, arrived and registered around January 2021.
The basic info you I need advice on.

Still in KMH on the Speedo
141000 Kmh - 87K miles
Car VX report completed and shows no issues.
Cambelt, Both rocker cover Gaskets Changed.
Mapped for UK Fuel with Alan Jefferies
Fuel Pump was changed and Anti Fuel Surge Pot
Still had standard CATS
Japanese Coilovers, Unsure of Brand.
Non Widetrack Blobeye with DCCD, 8k Rev limiter, DEFI Gauges

Front seat has been changed back to standard and side skirts
Front bumper and rear spoiler already repainted

Still has the japanese radio in it

Seller is asking £12,500, he wont budge as thats everything he spent. He paid £7800 over in japan, all costs and work done comes to £12,500.

I used to have a UK Blobeye STI and the idea of a JDM import seems to be too good to pass up. Would you say its worth it in regards to work done?
Bodywork looks straight and I would eventually want to decat and change the standard wheels up.

I would, sounds a fair price, saw uk one sell for £13,000 now back on for £17.999 from dealer.

price and bodykit 🤣

jaygsi 06 August 2021 09:51 PM

Yea really don't like that body kit, but it can be removed and sold.

Proudyy 07 August 2021 08:55 PM

Bodykit has already been removed. I dont quite get JDMSTI2006 how he thinks price is so funny. Look at the prices of them you fool. Personally I think the Hawkeye Scoobys look wank but each to their own opinion.

Its a fair price considering the way prices are going. My only concern would be the grade 3 which is normally for rusty cars. Get it on a ramp and check the underneath (not all fresh imports are rust free - some areas of Japan have more rust than we do in the UK). If its ok underbody then go for it I say

grade three can just be mileage if it’s condition then what makes it a 3 , as above check for rust , i was told some auction houses are better than others , one was in the mountains so wet all the time more risk on rust issues on cars , the price is good as currently imports have gone mental price wise , an 07 fsti a few years ago was 12,500 £ or so now it’s nearer to 16k£

I have a 03 jdm there really good cars as long as they been looked after, mine was a 3.5 I think rust is a big thing so as long as it's rust free it should be good

I nearly choked on my kipper this morning when I saw that Forester sti's had gone from 10k to 15k since I last looked; its happened in a year or so!
So this looks good value if it is sound.

There's a few wide tracks listed for under 10k at the mo, not mint all around 90/100k on the clocks. Notice a load more Impreza's have been listed, maybe people trying cash in on the high prices, which may drive them down if the market gets flooded with them.

Grade 3 would concern me a little , Now this certainly isn't a grade 3 due to the mileage I note its had some paint already but that grading wouldn't be just for a bumper and spoiler .

3 Rough, will definitely need bodywork or a thorough clean inside. Probably both. Avoid if you're after something good. Buy if you want something really cheap.

Grading at auctions vary between auction houses and the individual inspectors, it honestly should be taken with a pinch of salt. There's plenty Grade R cars coming over in better condition than 4s. Higher mileage cars will affect the grade also.
Regardless, all this interest in the cars auction sheet is completely irrelevant given the car is already in the UK and all the OP needs to do is go see it and make a judgement on it's overall condition for himself...

This is from a private seller presumably?

yes it was imported beginning of this year through rising sun exports.

TECHNOPUG 10 August 2021 11:36 AM

Yeah I can see it on their website. Getting back exactly what the car cost you seems somewhat unrealistic but I guess the owner is entitled to ask whatever he wants.
