Best make/size rear roll bar - 03 Blob Sti

Hi all

The rear roll bar is pretty rusted and want to replace so thought why not upgrade.

My car has the Prodrive springs and KYB Ultra dampers and alloy drop links as I don’t track it.

What make and size bar would you all recommend for a road car - and am I right to leave the standard front ARB and just upgrade the rear?

Thank you all in advance for you thoughts.

Go up by 2mm if you're on stock. Whiteline is good but they rust. I see you're in Spain and with it being dryer you should be ok. Correct don't upgrade the front arb.

Thanks mate - would that be a 22 or 23?

Yes it is really dry where I live in Sevilla- also no bloody salt on the roads!

The more common ones are 22 and 24, you don't hear much about 23 (could be wrong on that).

Have a look at this link

My rear Whiteline ARB started rusting in about 18 months, perhaps less. A lot of the coating is peeling off / gone, terrible quality. For that reason I doubt I'll ever buy a Whiteline product again.

Cusco do rear ARB's?

The market is flooded with Whiteline ARB's, but if I was buying an ARB, I'd be looking at an alternative brand for sure.

I had prodrive springs and KYB struts (albeit the WRX ones) on my blobeye and I fit a whiteline RARB. I also went for better RARB mounts as well as the standard ones were very rusty and they're pretty flimsy anyway.

I left the front standard and went for the next size up at the rear, (22mm I believe?). The reason for doing this was that the car felt slightly understeer biased as standard, increasing the rear roll stiffness by a bit brings this much closer to neutral and it feels very predictable and very well balanced through corners with perhaps some slight oversteer if you really push it. I wanted the slight balance change, and if I had stiffened the front, then I would have had to go even stiffer on the rear and then you have the associated compromises in ride comfort, double the cost and I don't think overly stiff cars with no body roll and compliance are any good to drive on UK roads anyway. Compliance is a good thing!

My whiteline ARB is still in good condition with no real marks nor rust on it and it is getting close to having been fitted for 2 years while being daily-driven all year round in the UK. After hearing all the stories of them rusting, when I got it I hung it up on a piece of string and gave it many, many coats of spray lacquer- this seems to have done the trick.

I have now switched to coilovers but I have retained the same ARB setup. It's worth doing the bushes while you're changing it. Mine were ovalled on the front arb and it was causing a knocking sound.
