Tactrix beginner Question
 
Hi All,

I have a uk model 2003 wrx that I want to learn about logging and tuning.
So i have brought a new tactrix openport 2.0 and downloaded the ecu flash software and installed on my laptop. The software seems to be installed fine and recognises the taxtrix when plugged in to the USB port

However I cannot manage to read the ecu, I get a pop up with an error which says to check the error log, however there is no useful messages in the log window. I am hitting the enter button as soon as I turn on the ignition.
I have set it to red the correct model 'read_wrx02.xml' and have connected the green test mode connectors under the dash. The car enters test mode and fans are cycling. The ecu is a standard ecu and I do not think it has been mapped previously.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you joined the white connector as well under the dashboard?

whats the info that pops up in the log on the right hand side of the ecuflash window?

That was it bludog, you must be bored of answering the same stupid question! I found another of your post on romraider from 2015 describing how to map out the tgv delete, very useful again!! Are you still mapping Subaru's after all this time?

Ready to now buy a wideband o2 sensor and start logging to see what is going on. With all your experience, what sensor would you suggest?
Also is it fine running in place of the standard rear sensor on a full decat exhaust or would you suggest adding an addition position in the exhaust further forward?

Yeah still at it! Yes rear o2 spot is fine for wideband once you map out the codes for the rear o2. Your cars a bit older so doesn't have anything fancy goin on with the tgvs if you were looking to remove them. Just bin the tgv codes and adjust your boost for the slight improvement after removing them.

I am using an inlet manifold without tgv, along with harvey uppipe, pink injectors, wlaborough 225 fuel pump , vf35 turbo , and full 3" turbo back exhaust with Miltek rear box, so plenty of scope for mapping tweaks.

Do you have a particular wideband sensor you use?

Looking forward to playing with logging, I am a specialist in data processing and storage in databases so looking at being able to import all the logs into a database, then reverse engineer Airboy's spreadsheet to apply to the data to help with the tuning.

no particular brand, i've got at least 4 laying around so depending on what car im doing I'll chose a different one or the one that's easiest to lay my hands on. If you're tuning with opensource/romraider then pick one that's already easily supported by romraider logger to make your life easier.

I have used an Innovate LC-2 mounted in the up pipe just after the turbo as I thought this would give a true Lambda reading as opposed to after any catalytic converters and is easy to remove the sensor if no longer required (it's also possible for you to calibrate the front Lambda sensor with the wideband). The Innovate can also be logged using RomRaider and is supported by the PC Link software if you decide to use Link ECUs in the future.

you mean mounted in the downpipe though yeah? If you stick it in the uppipe the readings will be all over the place due to exhaust pressure in there and excessive cooling of the sensor. Same thing happens to the front lambda sensor its why its not so reliable under boost though if you shift it to the top of the downpipe its not as bad (OK for ballpark idea of AFR, wouldn't bet my engine on it).

Sorry, I meant mounted in the downpipe just after the turbo. I have a Carberry 4.2 mafless map for my WRX that was running a VF35 at 1 bar on STI injectors which I'm more than happy to send across if you need a reference point for your mapping.
