450 bhp turbo options
 
I need some advice on turbo options for my blobeye sti, i have all supporting mods sorted just trying to figure out which turbo to go for, the engine isn't yet forged and so won't be pushing more than 450bhp at the moment!

From research it seems to be between the SC46 , rcm precision 500 and the mdx555-450.

Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated!

what kind of mods are needed for 450? mainly fuel system, is lph340 fuel pump enough or fuel rails are needed? 850cc injectors or 1050?

For 450 (based on a newage for the list below) you would be looking at the following :-

Uprated injectors (800cc is a good start)
Uprated fuel pump (255 is sufficent)
Uprated turbo (make your own choices here)
FMIC is advised but not always required (if fitting FMIC then factor in an induction filter)
FPR is recommended as you would be uprating your injectors
Uprated boost solenoid (at least a 3 port)
ECU or ECU remap
Uprated exhaust to flow better (would assume most have already done this part)
IF running a 2.5 then i would consider forging the engine for reliability. The 2.0 JDM engines far a bit better upto this power level but they are not totally bulletproof either.

One more thing to consider is uprated brakes!!! At normalish power levels the standard setup is fine but going above 450 uprated disc/pads even further a BBK is advised

The above list isnt a how to guide but just my take on how to safely get to 450.

car is 2.0 jdm , has a japspeed front mount ,362mm ap bbk, 3" with milltek sportscat, have process west top mount-should spool better with it, thinking sc42+ on 2.0 with future option for 2.35- think 1050cc ,
whats im unsure will engine receive enough fuel with lph340 pump.
Most probably will need new clutch,all above will be £4k:cry: plus 2.35

For reference my Hawkeye spec C is also a 2.0 JDM (although has recently been rebuilt to a 2.1) was safely running over 450 bhp for a number of years without issue and the mods inc :-

Hybrid FMIC
Cold Air Induction kit
800cc Injectors
uprated FPR
3 port Boost Solenoid
Walbro 255 FP
Litchfield LM450 turbo
3" H&S downpipe and 3" Cobra trackday exhaust

Looking at what you have already, you have a good basis to get to 450 already.
I would leave the FMIC in place to be honest even though the PW top mount is a quality bit of kit, the spool up time is negligable (maybe 200-300rpm at best) and if you have plans for a 2.35 (read big money!) then once past 450bhp it wont be as effecient anyway.

what cluch You have fitted? not sure with process west yet, maybe will sell it and put money in rear ap or fuji racing bbk

I have an ACT organic clutch fitted. I recently replaced it when my engine build was done, as it made sense. Not that there was anything wrong with the one fitted after 6 years of use, but as it was down to the last 30-40% ish it made sense to swap out and save on labour cost in a year or 2.

They are available in many ratings and are significatly cheaper than the Exeedy stuff ive seen at the same rating. I've teamed mine up together with their lightened flywheel too and it feels almost OEM.

2006 hawk,yes could sell brembos, process west and for 400 more could have rear bbk set,think it costs £1.4k
Have You 2 piece discs on rear ap kit?
Yes had above clutch saved/watched on ebay, have You act flywheel with it?

I have a JDM spec c type ra with standard internals. I have a true twin scroll turbo from Sprinting Hare Jdm fully built with a process west top mount we got dyno'd at 448.bhp

Mine are 2 piece at the front only, rears are normal 1 piece grooved discs.

Yes have the flywheel fitted too, but had that done years ago when i bought the first kit. Only needed a replacement clutch kit this time round.
