Impreza WRX/STi OEM Bucket seats info

Morning guys,

Just an odd question that’s been bothering me, and I’d quite like to know the answer, why not.

Does anybody actually know who made the OEM seats in the WRX/STi range? up until they became the not so sporty looking seat that they are now (IMO). Or were they just manufactured by Subaru themselves & STi for their range?

Any insight would be interesting😁

when i went on to a subaru parts site a lot of the seat bits were listed individually there , so i would expect it was made by subaru , if not made by subaru i would expect you would likely just get an option of a complete seat rather than all its parts individually if it came from a separate company

The only branded seats I've seen in a general Impreza were the Prodrive WR sport items in the Classic Prodrive Impreza (same as were in my Vectra ST200). I can imagine that if their other seats were made by Recaro they'd have made more of it, particularly as Recaro styled stuff tends to be distinctive, which Subaru stuff isn't other than to be distinctly Subaru!

There were some Recaro made lighter STI seats available as an option in Japan.

Seats in the 330s hatch are Recaro's
Seats in the UK MY11-13 Saloons are Recaro's

I read somewhere that there are actually only three companies that make seats for all the world's cars. Then again I just googled and Recaro don't even make the top five...... Here's an interesting video though about seats.

Awesome I’ll have a look at this.

It’s the seats in the Subarus up to the Hawkeye if you wish, that I am trying to figure out who manufactured them. As said before Subaru seats are, very Subaru like.

Thanks for the input guys😁

it will be someone similar to Johnson Controls / Ikeda Hoover (Ikeda Busan) who supply all of the trim & seat parts to Nissan, Sunderland........

I had a mk3 cavalier back in the 90’s. The Sri and gsi models had recaro seats for sure, my car was just an LS model, and remember once looking under one of the front seats for something and spotting a recaro sticker under it. Can’t remember if it was on the seat squab or the frame though.
