BELT INTERVAL

How doing Folks? ,
I’m sure this thread has been done before but i’d like to hear people’s thoughts. I have a brilliant 53 plate Jdm blobeye spec that and I know it was basically stripped and rebuilt around 5-6 years ago. The previous owner did heaps of good work and maintenance himself along with changing the timing belt kit/ idlers/water pump in January 17 only 12,000 miles ago. Is it technically due again in January due to age? It was a gates kit he used and I know it is a piece of mind thing and I understand it is between a£300 / £400 job compared to massive misery of rebuilding or buying a new engine ! My other question is, about gearbox oil. Occasionally when I am on a mission , at high speed, I have a light gearbox crunch between 5th and 6th gear if I change very quickly. If I change gear slower, this does not happen, sounds like a synchro issue and gearbox rebuild which I know isn’t cheap. The box had new bearings fitted a few years ago but I know this issue won’t get better with time. However, I have heard of a certain type of special gear oil which can help with this issue. Anyone heard of this cheaper fix or do I have to bite the bullet and get the box out to have it checked over.
Thanks for any thoughts and opinions.
Speeds.

It was 5 years or 50,000 whatever comes first is what was advised.

Try changing out the gearbox oil and were you talking about the Redline Shockproof stuff.

I don’t know the name of the gear oil Nossy but it could well be that stuff. A friend of mine who has had 6 Jdm Subaru’s says whatever type it was worked well on his S 202,I need to ask him. I think the spec c box has been known to suffer synchro issues but it might be worth a shot first.
Thanks.👍🏻
