Been looking on Autotrader recently and its always the same P1's for sale, are they not selling? Are all owners asking to much and prices will drop soon?

I had a lot of trouble selling - there's definitely not much demand for them at the moment. Perhaps you're right and the price is too high compared to the jap sti equivelants

In my opinion....

They are/will be a collectors car and should not be lookied at from a price perspective, IF it turns out not to be then at least you have had LOADSA FUN driving the baby!!!

im just about to buy and think exactly the same, so might hold fire, thing is you cant get a new STI for £22,000 so what do you do?

Ignore the drivell about being too expensive, wait for the price to come down etc. etc. You either want one or you don't. So go for it..... :)

I agree, i spose hesitance gets you know where fast.

Doubt they will drop in price, they have always been viewed as the top of the scooby food chain (maybe 2nd to the 22b) and are priced accordingly.

A cheaper option would be a Sti Type R.

Answer is that I dont think they are selling any slower than other scoobs at the moment. Look at deals to be had on STi and WRX.

why not try and sell it to someone in japan? :)

have you tried trading it in, if so what response did you get?

Personally, i think the P1 or old style shape is a better bet than the bugeye which has had a bad following and is rumoured to be replaced next year... i am not out to start an old v's the new battle here either. That's been done many a time before :)

crossroads garage shipston on stour have had a P1 for sale for weeks - Y plate - they want 25595 for it :O

Danny surely that means the cars are up for heavy negotiation - so go along and offer 4k less than they are asking. After all (modifying the phrase above) the sellers either want to sell or they don't.

Interesting, I swapped my 01 P1 with 26k miles on the clock to Mitsubishi for an EVO 6 Tommi Mak this Feb. I took the car over with a cheque expecting the P1 to have lost a lot, but I was wrong. I paid 26 for the car a year earlier and sold it trade for 23. I was very surprised. So were Mitsubishi when they phoned around for trade prices from dealers they use to redistribute trade in cars.

The Tommi was 26, but we did a straight swap. There is a premium to be had for certain old shape scoobs and 6s. They're seen as 'hooligan' cars. ;)

There is a good market for low mileage and good condition classic scoobs. With the new shape being very different in the styling department (not saying good or bad). People tend to prefer one or the other. If the new shape was liked by 90% of people then the classics would have take a nose dive in prices. As it is I still get people saying to me I prefer the old shape and some saying they like the new one. The debate been done loads of times and teh jury is firmly still out :D. This will keep prices good for late reg classics as there are people out there obviously that prefer them. Dealer and trade prices are high so expect private sales to be high as well. You now see very few 22Bs for sale as these are serious collectors pieces and have found owners who are hanging on to them :(. The ones for sale are still high for the good ones and still the ultimate impreza in mine and many peoples eyes.

An Sti Type R V5 will be 10 grand cheaper and be a more exhilarating ride!

10K buys a good suspension setup and a bit of change ;)

Danny,I think it will be along time before you see a p1 for sale for under 20k.A good one that is.I have to agree with wacko,you either want one or you don't!

not quite the same thought, my eyes were fully open when i exchanged my sti5 r for a P1. I doubt very much if there has been many p1 owners going to an sti type R

Look if you guys dont want em ship em to the states I will gladly trade you my 2.5RS for the P1. You know you want The P1 only has a 2.0 Mine has a 2.5 :)Please?

Just drive a well run in sti7 type uk and you will understand why P1 is not selling. P1 is a great car though

P1'a are a lot of money, STiV's are bargains. Both cars are VERY diferent.

So why did I only get 5 calls in 13 weeks on a Y reg 8000 mile immaculate P1 at £22.5k with advertising on autotrader, top marques, loot, pistonheads, rally mags and several other internet fanzines? I am a huge sceptic as you can probably tell, as I have been there and no-one is buying these at the moment which was very frustrating at the time. I thought it would be a good car to buy back in 01 for my personal indulgement and afterwards for the resale value. I was wrong....

Chopper: not wanting to disrespect anyone or offend on this BBS. But there are lots people out there, Scooby's drivers and not who would love a P1. Unfortunately when it comes to the crunch, 20k and above is a lot of cash. As for the second hand market, on any car it can be a painful experience trying to sell. Sometimes just coming down to right place right time type of scenario...

Also remember buyers are v suspicious of buying performance cars and esp s'hand ones - hence why most punters were prepared to pay the 31k P1 price from their dealer rather than import a grey

You wouldnt have been any better selling an STI7 and as for the STi 5 look how long it took to sell Scott Davies car which I think Mellow now owns and everyone has been drooling over.

Buyers talk prices down, owners will talk them up. If any car is reasonably priced it will sell. I have sold every one of my cars within 1 week of advertising, mainly because I am realistic with the price.

The golden rule is that cars depreciate. If it takes you 3 months to sell then it will lose further value and you will regret not accepting that 1st/2nd/3rd offer you had near the beginning.

Oliver, I nearly cried when I saw that a P1 was traded in for £17k to a Saab dealer recently. This was low mileage and pristine condition, never tracked or abused and a loved example.

I would have had it if I had had the cash, but I didn't. Opportunity missed.....
