Last picture not sure what it is but seems like some oil there
|
Think you've two leaks there but the oil filter could just be spillage and doesn't look too bad. The other one looks like power steering unions leaking and blowing back onto the gearbox.

Clean all the area up and run the car and look where its coming from first, if its run down even for a short time it will have spread, so clean and inspect again, talc the area if it helps, show small leaks.
|
Try and tighten them up they generally don't need much tightening. Get some crows feet or a cut ring spanner/brake spanner. Don't round them off.
|
also check the levels for clues if lower than usual, engine oil, gearbox and power steering/ brake fluid etc. seems obvious but could point to the area you need to investigate.
|
is power steeling fluid low if not could be rear crank seal weeping or rocker cover gasket
|
Check rocker cover

Rear crank seal is behind the flywheel

I think my question is where would the oil be leaking from externally if it’s the crank
|
The crank spins in a seal to prevent oil leakage
it’s like a tyre loads of tread new after 20000 miles it’s bald same with the seal should be good for 100000 miles depending on oil changes if seal is worn then it will weep oil |
Three different colours and three different smells with them too.

what is the tell tell sign of a rear crank seal leaking??? |
Engine oil from the bell housing engine joint blowing to the rear of the rear of the car. Possible drips/dampness at same joint.
|
Ok power steering oil is at full mark
gearbox oil is low but had a drain last week so will top up and check doesnt smell like |
It wasn't spilt while filling the box again was it.

Works were done to the car before I brought it clutch service timing belt so trying to see if the work is warrantied |
Ok checked oil went for a drive stood for 3 hours and checked several times seems like it’s on the upper circle! So it’s full!
I have left the dip stick out and will check again in the morning but seems fine. |
Oil
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...44011927e.jpeg is fine it seems but I looked under the car again today and there was the smallest droplet forming under the oil filter so I am assuming a bad seal I have ordered a jdm black filter. any recommendations on a cheapish oil as I might need to drop the oil if leak is else where |
Can’t find this bloody leak!!!
can anyone confirm where it would be leaking from if it was the rear crank? I am going to clean it all up in the next few days dry it. Then put something down to work out where it’s leaking from |
I need to find a mechanic who knows what they are looking for
