Hi everyone,
Since good old Toyota knocked me back once again from the 'On Track' events, I've not yet been able to drive a Mk3 MR2 in anger, despite the fact that I'm already an MR2 owner and considering upgrading to a Mk3! So my question to anyone who went is: How did you find the MR2? Handling, performance, overall experience etc.? I'd be very grateful to hear all your opinions both good and bad... |
I think they said you could just book a test drive online from any of their dealers. I drove a brief lap at Silverstone in one, seemed well put together and well mannered. Not blisteringly fast but the push button gear change was a nice toy. Not my cup of tea really but I didn't expect it to be.
Hope this helps |
I drove the MR2 on track and was very disapointed.
Firstly I couldn't even fit in the thing properly and I am only 6 feet tall. I couldn't get my knees under the steering wheel properly and when I moved from accelerator to brake my knee hit the steering wheel. Performance was adequate but the engine felt rough and harsh, especially compared to the Toyota Corolla T sport. The other big disapointment was just how cheap and tacky the interior felt. |
Thought it was quite twitchy. I drove the sequential job - slooooooooooooooow gearchange, car didn't feel particularly quick either.........
|
I had a right laugh in a manual one, esp when driven sideways by the instructor. Won't be buying one though.

I'm 6'2" and I fitted in OK - maybe the steering wheel height adjustment was set low or the seat was set high?
