What CAI setup for my FMIC circa 450hp setup.

So as part of my 450hp quest, i have most of the parts purchased and will be booked in shortly for fitting and mapping.

The last part of the puzzle is an air filter.

As a child, i thought as a child, talked as a child, i did childish things like buy and use induction kits but as i've grown older and wiser i've tended to stay away from these things.

However, as i'll be running a FMIC there is no option for me to do anything but run a induction filter.

I've been warned off wing intakes due to the location and sheer filth that can present itself under there if you aren't careful.

So i'm looking at a short ram intake. Two of the most common and favoured items i've seen are the Perrin at circa £245 and the RCM at circa £311.

I wondered are these two the best of what is out there? Are there any others that are worth considering? £311 seems a lot for what is essentially a silicone hose and a K&N Filter and trumpet so is more expensive truly the best of the best in this particular field are am i better off going against the grain and setting up a different filter?

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

I run the inner wing Perrin Cold Air Intake Kit.

It keeps the charge cool enough to help me get 405 bhp on an aftermarket TMIC.

Yes, the location isn't as straight forward as under the bonnet, but I'm not sure the filter picks up much more dirt than the stock location.

I remove, wash, dry and re-oil and refit mine once each year with a foam filter cleaner and oil.

Takes me probably 30 mins tops (plus air drying time).

I have no plans to change back to under bonnet anytime soon.

I ran the RCM set up and it worked fine when my car was at 450bhp the set up is now on my wife’s scooby, out of the 2 mentioned it would always be the RCM induction set up for me.SJ.
