Sti Type R V5 back from the dead (8 years later)

Hello,

I thought my car could deserve it's own thread as it's been off the road for 8 years and now it's alive again :lol1:

The original engine failed in 2011 and I completely lost my interest in it and had a couple of project BMW's instead (one of them was a E36 M3 3.2 Coupé which I sold earlier this year)

I'm still running in the engine. Had to do a hard run in with a mapping session as the setup is completely changed from the last time, I don't even use the same ecu. So we'll see how long this engine lasts. I passed the vehicle inspection this week so I can finally drive it on the roads again.

Looks awesome

Thanks, I'll probably get the P1 lip painted but I've had a bit of bad luck with them (first one a paint shop melted when they dried the paint the "oven" and second one cracked when I ran over some junk on the road) and now HT Autos don't make them anymore.

And I'm still 11 years later in my ownership looking for 2 or 4 gold OZ Prodrive P1 centre caps.

Stunning pal, loving the WRC Wing mirrors too.

Thank you very much! Regarding the mirrors, how many different types are there of the WRC / Group A mirrors? There's something about my mirrors that don't look 100% correct to the real mirrors or maybe it's just in my head. It's like the real WRC mirrors are slightly boxier in the outer shape. These are probably 15 years old and look really good quality wise, but I have no idea of who made them.

These are mine, I’ve not fitted them yet, like you say buddy, some many different variants of them.

Looks a lovely example.

I miss my Type R

Thanks. It's quite good for it's age actually but not 100% mint. It was sold as new in the UK in 2000 as a grey import I guess. It came to Sweden in 2005 and has never seen a Swedish winter with road salt so there's no rust at all to be found around the usual spots. It's very clean underneath too, but there are a few rusty bolts and perhaps the rear subframe would look better with some new paint but for a 20 year old Japanese car it's really nice.

That's a beauty, and I'm a sucker for a comeback story, so glad you got your stoke back for Imprezas.

Thank you, yes it feels good to be back.
