locksmiths saying it might be a dealer job.

stockcar 05 July 2019 01:49 PM

if its a JDM classic then there is no immobiliser like the later cars or UK spec

Ash Webster 05 July 2019 01:56 PM

aye its an aftermarket hornet one.... so i either need to get a new key cut (somehow) and remove the immobiliser, or get the locks fully changed >.< i cant be arsed buying a new immobiliser..

auto locksmiths wont go near it and even the dealership is sketchy, lets hope the guy Don has flagged up has some leads. He said hed get back to me later once hes finished a job.

Keep us updated Ash. I'm in the same boat as you - misplaced my keys last weekend and now down to just the spare. Was thinking of using the fella you've contacted on Facebook, but I'm a bit sceptical about sending my only key to him via post - from what I understand he needs the key and clones the transponder ?

He’s making me a mock-up of a pic I had (don’t ask why) of the key.

I don’t even have a spare or an alarm fob , but I can deal with the immobiliser at a later date if the key works. If not then it’s break in get the code and get another key made that way

Go to Timpsons ,call before you go as not all stores can do it , if you have a key with an immobiliser in it they will cut a key and copy the immobiliser it will be between 30 to 50£ , it’s quick and easy getting it done

Ash Webster 06 July 2019 03:37 PM

Got into my car today (cost £65 :o ) . Now just need to figure out how to get the key code off the lock barrel without dismantling the whole door .... 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 taken the door card off and can’t see a way

Vxr2010 06 July 2019 04:52 PM

As above Timpsons will read the code off your key , so as long as you have your key you are ok

Ash Webster 11 July 2019 08:23 AM

So the guy @Don Clark mentioned cut me a key off a pic i had (dont ask why). it worked a treat. legend ....,

just need to sort out the immmobiliser now..

The key code for my MY00 was writen inside my log book, daft question but have you checked there yet?

Vxr2010 12 July 2019 11:30 AM

as above just take the key to timpsons they don’t need the code to do a copy key

Vxr2010 12 July 2019 07:12 PM

i’m assuming you have one key left that works ? or my second thought is subaru , or turn immobiliser off if this can be done and put a new one in

Ash Webster 15 July 2019 11:57 AM

No I didnt... hence the massive faff around.

Elec coming on sat to remove the immobiliser (as obv didnt have another fob).. Will try to buy another one before then and get him to fit it.
