BMW F10 M5..........
is it me or is there a lack of specialists around to work on this car?
there isnt even alot of upgraded engine parts around................try finding rods and pistons in the uk for this car. im coming into some money soon and this car really takes my fancy. buy with warranty and keep standard or mod to around 700bhp and void the warranty? a new engine from bmw comes in @ around £25k............................feck that surely a rebuild would be cheaper if parts were avaiable. |

Easy. Speak to Ray from wrench studios. 07763645039. They do currently have a full forged engine built up to cope with 1500bhp at 16k.
My F10 is hopefully going down a tuned route soon. Pure stage 2 turbos, HCP stage 2, Meth and ssp clutches. 850-900 bhp comfortably. Looking to hit vmaxx. Thanks H |

Thanks H ive heard of a few horror stories about the s63tu engine (bent rods due to fuel hydrolock/knocking bottom end etc) i will be buying from a dealer so will run the warranty but it means i cannot mod the car. surely the engine can be rebuilt for less than £10k its only a v8. even the mighty r35 gtr engine can be built for around £8.5k to cope with 900bhp show us your m5 buddy :) |

I like the m4 aswell and it's actually quicker to 60mph than the m5 HOWEVER the m5 is the brute of the m cars in my opinion. Really like the jahre edition but are ££££££££££££ |
Not a fan of m3/m4 we have them in the family. Baby engines. M5 is in a league of its own.
Jahre is great but much different from a regular M5z Lci 63 reg. |

I like the white versions but if I go for one it will be monte carlo blue or Singapore grey. Do you run the warranty on yours?
Do you guys see any down side? |

I have a 2014 Singapore grey M5 F10 😁 which I love. Been considering a stage one map for some time.

my plan is go c63 (although if you ask me tomorrow i may say rs5, or m3, next day prob c63 haha) but after seeing evolves 700bhp decat and mapped f10 i may be persuaded to go that route haha.
From what i can gather they are pretty reliable at that level of tune and are pretty reliable full stop, although i'd gladly be corrected if thats wrong. have to say i really cant see any point in going any more than that, in anything but the dry its just gonna spin up the wheels even in fourth. Go have a nosey at evloves youtube page, they are at vmax200 alot with them. lik all things, the higher power you go, the bigger the risk that said, they dont sound anywhere near as good as the c63's lol |
C63 twin turbo is far more 'mechanical' than the M5
no idea which is faster but the C63 is far more aggressive and "on the edge" from the seat............ have recently had an M5 s63 crank in for inspection and it was so out of true it was ridiculous - it had been subjected to a "slight" amount of heat gong by the blueing of the casting and the fact that it had 3x big-end shells welded to it!!! |

As much as I would want to tune it to 700bhp I simply couldn't let myself without knowing what a rebuild would cost (and if it's as above £16k) I shall not bother and just keep it std. I like the c63 a lad at work has just bought the 2 door coupe with performance pack on it, the m5 looks better though in my opinion. I have heard a few horror stories about the rs5 engine (non turbo v8). I love the 2015 rs6 but they are around 10k more than an m5. |

Have you built any of these motors yet alyn? Any idea of any companies doing rods and pistons like carrilo/mahle etc |

Rod bearings are wearing out sooner than expected and their replacement should be considered a required preventative maintenance item before 70,000 miles' |

so you wouldnt call it a reliable car then?
I tend to do 5k a year... Some are lucky..some have issues..I have heard of engine failures a fair amount.. Seeing how much the car costs new...repairs will naturally be expensive..I pay £1500 a year for extended warranty...works well for me. The e60's were known to be unreliable..infect my friend had one..that did stupid mpg and spent most of its life in the petrol pump or BMW lol F10.. I still can drive slow and get 30mpg... |

M5 is a nice car and a map puts it in good power but I know someone that got a nice one and he blew the engine on standard power. I think it’s just a lottery as it’s like buying an M3 you know they will of been thrashed as that’s why the people buy them cars and the M5 is the same.
