sluggish strarting
hi my 99 classic seems to struggle to start somtimes ,,just like theres not enough ummph in the battery,its a new battery when its fired up shes fine ,have been told its could be a starter motor issue,but before i go buying starting motors could it be bad earthing on the starter motor or anyone had this problem and sorted it ,,any advice would be a great help thanks dennis

How many miles has the car done, could the starter be on its way out ?

If it's not cranking at all when the issue happens, but you can hear the fuel pump priming, it very likely could be the starter, or a failed/failing relay in the immobilizer.
Before blowing a hundred notes on an entire new starter though, you might want to look for a seller on Ebay who sells refurb kits for the starter solenoid (which would probably be the only part at fault inside the starter). This did the trick for mine when it got to around that age. The kits go for around £15, as best as I can remember. |
