Applecare for product bought in the USA

Would anybody know if its possible to add Applecare in the UK to a product purchased in USA?

From Apple support pages, specific to iPhone: If you purchased it in the US, you can only buy additional coverage fromApple in the US and that coverage will only be valid in the US
