DCCD rebuild kit, or replacement unit?

Hi all,

My Hawk's DCCD is in a very poor state. Are there any rebuild kits around at all? Tried some googling and didn't get many results especially in the UK.

Or would I be better off trying to buy it out of a second hand box?

Cheers

Adrian

Didn't think you were based in the UK. but if you are after somewhere in the UK then you can try a few different places. We have quite a few gearbox specialists (where are you based) and Ayln from AS Performance should be able to sort you out.

I know a gearbox specialist in Birmingham

Hi! you are right actually I'm not. I'm from Malta and unfortunately I have to try and source the parts from abroad (such as the UK), can only find non-dccd stuff around here at the moment :(

Thanks for the info.

I've always wondered what the cost of rebuilding this box would be, I always like to know certain costs with cars I own. I have searched but found little to no information on it. I'm guessing the center diff would be the most expensive part.

Would be good to hear from alyn @ as performance or other specialists with rough prices and perhaps recommended upgrade parts for the box like carbon syncros etc

Definitely won't be cheap, especially when the previous mechanic mis-diagnosed the problem and lead me to spend on a new rear diff that probably wasn't necessary

Ali Burrows Motorsport in Northern Ireland do rebuilds on the 6 speeds. I was going to get mine done but sold it to Samsonas instead and bought a replacement from Matty Baker.

Any idea on prices?

Wasnt there a UK company called teg sport that rebuilt them?

Sorry, never got prices, had to post the box to him for him to strip and inspect then come back with costs for things that need sorting.

Yeah, I believe they also used to.

@drinud Did you ever get this sorted?

Yes, by selling the damn thing.

I loved the looks of the car, the sound, the performance (when it worked), but it was just a money pit. I spent loads of money rebuilding the centre diff as-well as the rear diff and it still wasn't completely cured. Then it started to get rusty (in Malta and being a garage queen please note) and also had issues to run right after all that money spent on the transmission. All this at just under 40k miles.

Was best to move on :(

What were your symptoms of a bad centre diff?

Vxr2010 09 February 2023 06:51 PM

An old thread revisited but , centre diff issue are , fine when it’s cold no noticeable driving issues , but once it warms up say 20 mins plus driving , then clunking when going left or right from the front , thus happens going forward or reversing , no real change to things If you change Fluid , more difficulty getting gears and can increase gearbox noise , the part I got from Megazip , about 450£ or so delivered , it’s not a difficult job to do but best done on a car ramp , there is a split bearing on a shaft can be a fiddle use grease to stick the bearing to the shaft , exhaust needs removing ,more common on the wrx than sti , often caused by using unmatched tyres or not rotating tyres 😁👍
