bought this part? oh wait its for the 99 model not the 97/98 .. whoops
rear arches rusted = £££
CEL comes on - diagnosis simple, fix = not so simple
more £££
steam from engine
coolant hose gone - praying no head gasket failure
MPG = <15
sound deadening +rear seats removed (unpractical)
cat gone
loud
uncomfortable
been stopping and starting too quickly? car wont start
new injectors needed, also battery dead!

Those moments where it all comes together and it just... works... The beautiful Subaru burble/rumble, the kick up your arse as you hit peak boost on an overtake, the looks from others, the waves from other Scoobs

I like to refer to all of the above as 'bonding' with the car. The more you go through with each other the closer you become :D

I've questioned my sanity so many times after I bought my junker of a wagon off a member here 2 years ago.

However, when you hit full boost, you forget everything as your slammed into the back of the seat and a big smile spreads across your face.

I've considered breaking it a few times and getting something simpler like a civic type r fn2, but I know I'd regret it.

Been there actually there just now use my bmw with all the mod cons constantly jump in the scooby and say why do I have this it’s dated and old but when some tosser in a polo gti sits behind you and you drop a gear foot to the floor for two seconds and straight back off again you see their face and laugh because they are still speeding away like an arse . And then there is the issues you have raised above I could have bought a Lamborghini with the cash ave spent in the last 14 years on scoobys it’s just a pure addiction.

Agreed they get under your skin, I doubt i'll ever move away from them entirely.

Got their flaws but I love them, much like the RS clio range.

For me, it's the fact that you can enjoy it without having to plant your foot all the time. I drive home with the drivers side window down all the way and the other 3 half way down just to hear the rumble and the spool! Bunch of Night Nurse because it's so cold, but it's worth it! .....:Whatever_

I feel the same very often.
Blob sti was my "achievable dream car" for years and when I finally bought one and after the initial love affair, it dawned on me that this is a 15 year old car at the end of the day. I haven't had any major issues but just maintaining the car in good condition costs £££, rust is also becoming an issue. Sometimes I don't drive it for weeks and I think about selling but then it is just enough to sit in it or go for a short blast and it all becomes worth it again!

Did a long weekend in Wales recently and it just reminded me again how much I love the car and that it is all worth it in the end!

Yes, Wales is where it is for easily reached driving enjoyment - for now.

But don't tell everyone, they'll all wanna come over here and create a 6-car traffic jam. :lol1:

Don't know what Subaru's you drive but all mine have been faultless. Bought a classic sport for £350 clutch had gone, spent few hundred on new clutch and had 40,000 trouble free miles then sold.
