Scoobys vs evo

I’m not one for driving my car fast all time . As the roads these days are to busy congested and I’m getting on a bit not far of 40 lol . But had a play with a evo 8 mr fq400 . Nearly passed him at one point on the dual carriageway but he had to pull out-to get passed another car . What’s surprised me I’m not running big power 360bhp 420 torque in my Hawk sti . Let’s a just say I wont be swapping my car for a evo anytime soon

Enjoy.

I have owned both Subaru and Evo and now I have another Subaru as a weekend toy.

If you passed an Evo or even thought you had a chance with an FQ400 he let you trust me on that !!

iceicebaby1980 29 April 2019 07:58 AM

Evo 405bhp 355torque against my scooby 365bhp 420torque just double checked my dyno graph lol . So nothing in it power wise he’s up bhp I’m up on torque . We had a few runs aswell and the speeds we we were getting up to know one was letting off

Ste333 29 April 2019 12:10 PM

outright speed on a straight (in mexico) probably pretty similar then. But once you hit some corners, the Evo would get away.
I've had both, and whilst I prefer Subarus...the Evo is a more capable car.

Vxr2010 29 April 2019 12:27 PM

as clarkson said something on the lines of , drive the subaru to the track as it’s much nicer on a normal road and then drive the evo round the track , a friend had a evo 10 his comments were mpg was not good subaru was better , it was a very firm ride , the only positive it was slightly quicker but in reality not much in it , but you don’t have the subaru character and burble etc

TECHNOPUG 29 April 2019 03:24 PM

20% more torque through the midrange, so I can completely believe that the Scooby will as fast at and above Motorway speeds/higher gears.

wrx2005 30 April 2019 02:12 PM

slightly slower or not the evo is a far far better car without the chav chariot image of the impreza

Strange comments about an impreza when you seem like you may own one ? and are on a subaru forum , possibly better posted on a mitsubishi forum ?

Anger 01 May 2019 05:37 PM

Having owned a Evo 8 MR and now a Spec C I wouldn’t say there is that much between them

silver-sub 01 May 2019 07:46 PM

I'd take the Evo.

i think you,ve hit the nail on the head mate-you need to shell out for a spec c -s205/6 to get near the driving dynamics of a standard evo- a standard sti or wrx are pretty soft cars in comparison with lots of safety understeer thrown in for good measure lol

Tidgy 03 May 2019 12:48 PM

but the scoob looks and sounds 100 times better.

100% agree

semih 03 May 2019 01:41 PM

impreza is more characteristic than evo

boxer engines are more unique and beutiful, i like it

derek sti 03 May 2019 03:31 PM

Having had models of both ,in general as everyone else finds is that as an everyday car Subaru’s are better but for sheer rawness and excitement I’d say the evo wins every time obviously a lot depends on exactly which models are being compared.
currently have a Tommi mak evo and find it totally unrefined and raw even compared to a scooby type r .,both marques are fantastic.

Looks are really subjective
drove a jdm evo 8 mapped 350/350 and it was boring
but handled like it was on rails
if you watch a few vids on YouTube with the little japs driving around the tracks
in spec c and ra-r models are significantly faster than the evos
