WRX 03 clicking when applying brakes :(

Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker, new account of jumping back into the Subaru scene. I have purchased a one owner 03 Silver blobeye, full pro leather retrim,

My new toy
43K on clock with NO RUST, at all and a ScoobyClinic stage 2 setup (oh and the loudest exhaust going by the sound of it!) Anyhow, there is something slightly wrong, whenever I apply the breaks there is a single "click" noise that appears to come from rear passanger side. It doesn't impact the breaking and it has been there from the start but crikey, it's annoying.

Anyone any idea what it could be, before I take it to the garage and they start making up numbers :D

Thanks!

Regards

Stuart

Hi Stuart, this is often caused by ill-fitting aftermarket brake pads. I'd whip the wheel off and see if there is any play in the pad. If you are able to wiggle it in the carrier then it's pretty certain you've found the sound :thumb: can be solved by fitting some better quality pads

Mine used to do it. I bought new spring clips, pad retaining pins, did away with the anti squeal shims and just apply copper grease to the back of the pads, not had a problem since.

And the car pictured is a bugeye, not a blobeye.
