Mikalor Clamps - Crap?
I've got Mikalor clamps on Mishimoto Hoses on my 2006 Blob STI, every once in a while there's a small leak from the hoses, both leaks are where the hoses attach to the engine side, not the radiator side. I tighten up the clamps but then they just seem to leak again. It's not much, just a small drop but have a lovely burnt coolant smell once in a while. Am I best off binning the clips? If so, what's the best ones to replace them with? Hoping to do them with the pipe in situ as then I don't want to redrain and fill the system up.
Cheers all. |
Sometimes a build-up of aluminium corrosion on the coolant crossover pipe and stat housing where the hose's push on can cause a little coolant to pass when heat cycled.

Wouldn't use Mikkalor on rad hoses normally you would be better off with high quality 'jubilee' clips or if you want the "best" then use a Murray clamp

thanks for your replies, I am going to replace the clips with Murray ones, I have two of them already, but just wanted some feedback on the existing ones.
