Type R DCCD/gearbox noise

Hi guys,
Hoping someone can help me here... I bought a 1998 Type R 2 weeks ago and when I drove it home, the DCCD seemed to lock when doing a 3 point turn (diff setting on second to last; green box lit up on dash) meaning the diff should be open, however, I heard clunking from the diff. I had to switch off the car for a couple mins and turned it back on and all was fine (did not adjust the diff). The car has been fine since until Friday last week where it happened again doing a 3 point turn (did multiple 3 point turns in between and all was normal) so I tried to reset by switching off the car again but as I was in the middle of a 3 point turn, i switched it back on straight away but this time the diff didn't reset, so whilst stationary, I moved the DCCD setting all the way to lock, then all the way back and that fixed the issue. At this point I decided to phone the dealer the following day and parked up the car for the evening... drove it home a few hours later and when I shifted into fourth, I started hearing crackling sounds as if something came lose... luckily I wasn't too far from home so I limped it home... it then made noises on all gears but it's the loudest on fourth... I have been reading up on this but haven't really had much luck. Has anyone experienced this previously? Any help and advice will be highly appreciated.

Lift the handbrake 1 click until the light is on, this disables the diff, it will clunk due to diff windup if a tight turn.

Thanks bud, I'll give it a go and let you know. 👍🏼

Hey bud, I drove it with the handbrake on one click (handbrake) light was on and I could still hear a ticking noise just like a worn cv joint in a front wheel drive car... completely baffled, car drives fine but didn't push it past 10mph... can hear it when driving sttaight and turning... same noise when reversing... any ideas? Thanks
