What’s happened in here

this place used to be the central scooby place with loads of people even the parts section was booming when I last had a Impreza just a few years ago .

domino46 02 April 2019 07:03 PM

facebook killed most of the forums with there "groups" that they call clubs

Rusti 02 April 2019 07:32 PM

Facebook is so annoying I don't understand why it's preferred to a proper forum?

playtime 02 April 2019 07:38 PM

This was a great forum aswell a spent more time on here than I did working

RobsyUK 02 April 2019 08:10 PM

Facebook is instant, simple and easy to scroll through.
I prefer the knowledge stored on here compared to facebook as most of the experience, knowledge and correct advice has long gone.
pwople on Facebook comment by what someone told them rather then factual.

more often then not I revive an old thread here then ask on fb

Henrik 02 April 2019 08:19 PM

Where on Facebook, though?

I'm thinking I need to expand my Facebook use a bit, because it's really dead here now.

Depends what you drive.. official Hawkeye owners club or Impreza owners club.

We are carrying on quite nicely without any Facebook tomfoolery.

Wow that feels almost like this place used to feel like :)

I've never had a look before, because I assumed from the name that it was a type-r/Ra special interest type group :)

stockcar 03 April 2019 08:45 AM

sssccchhhhhhhhhhhhhh, now you've fecked the job @type-ra

BrownPantsRacing 03 April 2019 08:57 AM

I'm amazed the scoobynet facebook page never really took off.

Probably because most Facebook groups believe us knowledgeable folk are the idiots as we usually correct most the bull**** advice and get called trolls or old men lol

hahaha. You're not kidding. That's one thing I have noticed, that every 17 year old kid with an Impreza on all the facebook groups are experts who knows more than I do. I have come to terms with the fact because there is more access and more people in the facebook groups that there will always be someone who has the complete polar opinion to you and always be arguments, which is somewhat frustrating when you're just giving an honest fact based answer and trying to help someone out.

I've had to justify myself more times than I feel comfortable on facebook groups. The worst by FAR is Subaru Army. Total bunch of w4nkers.

Rusti 03 April 2019 09:57 AM

I quite like the bunch we have on SNET these days, leave the teens to it on FB and once they have blown their cars up they can come on here cap in hand.

Would like a few more of the old guard to come back though.

Do you guys still have scoobs?

BrownPantsRacing 03 April 2019 10:04 AM

I also believe photobucket helped kill all the forums off when they suddenly stopped hosting pictures over night and all these build threads, info threads and years of technical knowledge became next to useless. None of them have really recovered and life moves on to platforms that ear easier to access on phones etc.

Personally I still love this place, quiet now but nowhere near as bad as some others like the Forester forums I'm on.

Tell me about it mate. Pistonheads is no better either.

By all comparison this place is buzzing!

playtime 03 April 2019 12:49 PM

Am not a big fan of the Facebook groups myself I still keep in touch with a few who have since dropped out the scene but have scoobys. I just fined the whole big family thing gone like we use to have as big events
elvington. Even the mcrea gathering that was epic. I would say that far to many of these cars are being broken aswell but that’s just life I guess even when it was the ford scene years ago .

BrownPantsRacing 03 April 2019 03:07 PM

I never made it to the mcrae gathering years ago and massively regret it.

Fixed that for you. Been on Pistonheads for many years, but the German car bias in the forums is getting nauseating.

15 years on it's a bit too late to change the name I'm afraid :)
Hopefully we are doing our bit to keep Impreza enthusiast forums alive:thumb:

juggers 04 April 2019 12:34 AM

To be fair it's getting better on here as more and more people head back to forums for quality content.

WUZ 04 April 2019 11:30 AM

Gotta agree with Juggers - I think people are realising that there are too many giving bullsh!t information and so they are heading back to the Forums where the better-quality knowledge base can be found: S/Net, 22b, etc

I hope this is true Wuz, as there is some great content and good people on here.

funkyrimpler 04 April 2019 11:36 PM

i've never even been on either Facebook, or Twatter...seriously... All i ever hear about them is how terrible they are.

Pete 05 April 2019 05:15 AM

Ditto, don’t use FB myself, doesn’t interest me one bit. Type RA forum is still very active and is a great forum.

playtime 05 April 2019 04:10 PM

What ever happened to 22b.com that was another brilliant forum

scooby kid 05 April 2019 05:42 PM

Type ra is great forum with lots of early cars being saved.
