switching doors, wiring issue

Hi All,

2003 JDM STI

Bought a replacement door as mine was scruffy and had several marks. Seemed like a less expensive option than repainting. Switched door card and bolted door on but the wiring isn't the same. I'm assuming that the new door came off a UK car and that explains the differences. The part that connects from the door onto the wires from the car has a different connector block. On the car (and the old door) it is two separate connector blocks where the new door only has one.

I've taken all of the wiring out of the old door and hoped it would be simple to replace but the connection to the door lock mechanism isn't the same. The wiring from the old door has 2 wires, the wiring from the new door has three.

Can I just replace, cut and solder the old wiring onto the new door or does this extra wire do a job that will screw up something? Any other ideas? The Mrs is keen to get the spare door out of the house...

The "new" door if it's off a UK car will have "double locking" door locks to comply with Thatcham cat 1requirements whereas the JDM does not.

Why not just transfer all the door furniture, locks etc. over.

Thanks. After getting a wiring diagram it looked like it might be that. I'll have a go at switching locks, keen to avoid having to do the window etc

Appreciate the reply

Just to follow on. It was a ******* job. The locks had different fittings, the arms that move the handles etc are not the same size and the angle of the bracket that holds all of the arms was different. Cue lots of swearing and hacking at wire. Got there in the end though.

On the plus side, getting the window in and out was a piece of piss.

Thanks for advice

When we swap doors we alwasy change everything over. Usually even same yr doors can have different looms. Can be a right pita to do
