The MOT as run out, so a bargaining tool.

Google brought me to this thread - I bought it on Monday, my first taste of Subaru ownership :)

The car went back to the dealer and I got a refund. I'd discovered it has front and rear crash damage which wasn't declared, even though it was HPI clear. There's a ripple in the N/S chassic leg, and the rear N/S corner has been previously caved in.

wonder if the dealer will be honest and update the log book accordingly.

If it didn't go through an insurance claim (for whatever reason), it wouldn't be categorised ? That, and how many traders are going to willingly knock several £k off their asking price?

For anything specialised it must be worth having independently inspected by the AA etc as it will either pay for itself in negotiating the sale or you can walk away with little lost ? Or buy from one of the handful of trusted but more expensive dealers.

Who is the dealer mate. Might be worth keeping it on here so if others look they know. Its not a name and shame thing

Billington Motor Group in Burnley currently have it, and they said they would get the car inspected and repaired. They were quite good at having the car back and issuing a refund, no quibble, but I'll never know for certain if they knew it was there. They apparently had it inspected themselves but they didn't know...

As it sits now, both front and rear bumpers don't quite sit correct. Front bumper is pushed out both sides. The rear bumper has dropped a bit on the nearside, and needs repairing. Quite a lot of surface rust underneath as well, although the parts are solid enough. The cars interior is almost mint and drives really nicely. Just a shame I didn't know about the crash damage before hand, I wouldn't have done 1200 miles / 22 hours driving to collect and return it!
