Brembo or Godspeed?

Hi guys
I’m new to scooby ownership with a 2004 blob wrx. I need to change discs and pads all round. From reading on here lots of people seem to use Godspeed brakes. I’ve just checked on Eurocarparts and with the discount codes they always give it would be £190 odd for Brembo discs and pads all round..Godspeed are doing a package deal for discs and Kevlar pads for £255.
Are these better than the brembos? Also the ease of collecting from a shop less than a mile away as apossed to having the Godspeed ones delivered (not sure what the delivery cost is)

thanks

scotty boy 80 13 March 2019 12:25 PM

Brembo all day long over that package

Godspeed Brakes 13 March 2019 01:11 PM

Hi
The package deals we offer are a better performing setup than any standard disc and pad as they are uprated from standard items , so yes they will work better than the standard Brembo discs and pads , our kevlar pads are the first step up from standard , and suit those who use there cars as every day drives , with spirited now and again , harder drivers would at least need better front pads , or very hard road , and track would need better pads front and rear.
Delivery on a front and rear package will be £10
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Cheers Scotty

is that from experience?

I don’t think the Brembo discs are groved, drilled, dimpled or any other process so wasn’t sure if heat could b an issue

The Brembo's will be plain discs , and standard road pads

Dury 13 March 2019 01:17 PM

Thanks Ian

I’m in no rush so waiting for delivery is not an issue (apart from the annoyance of not being in when they attempt to deliver)

I’ll have to think about it as I’m also buying original wheels which I need 2 new tyres for so cost needs to b considered a bit more than usual

I bought brembo from eurocarparts they squeaked when pressing brakes drove me crazy

CraigBWRX 13 March 2019 01:30 PM

Godspeed all day long.

I have an 05 WRX and put the Brembo discs and pads all round from ECP, complete waste of money.

Had the godspeed package on my old blobeye and they were much better (with a brake stopper and braided brake lines). WRX brakes will never be amazing, but the godspeed stuff had a decent bite, ideal for road use.

scotty boy 80 13 March 2019 03:27 PM

Maybe brembo disks with a better pad, I found they kevlar pads pretty awful

Agree

I was looking through reviews for ages on different brake pads, its a complete minefield. I just remember that the godspeed package felt a lot better than standard stuff on my old blobeye.

I have Kevlar pads front & rear ready to fit with the Brembo discs as I cant justify throwing the Brembo discs away.

what discs do you use Ian?

I assume you buy discs in and modify them?

Mperregil 13 March 2019 08:13 PM

Godspeed all day long.

fpan 14 March 2019 11:06 AM

Numerous people including myself have had problems with Godspeed discs warping and getting pitted.
After my experience I would stick to a named brand.

Brembo drilled or grooved discs do exist if that's what you are after.

Any disc can warp and pit , those discs in the link have been left standing and unused , all discs will rust that badly if unused , check these fairly new Final edition Brembo's

https://photos.app.goo.gl/eaZcfdENVxBVN6b78

We offer a 12 month guarantee against warping even if you do track days , no one else will offer you any guarantee's on the track , yes we do get some back under warranty , but as we sell 1000's of pairs of discs a year for all makes and models of cars , i'd expect nothing more , same as anything you buy , nothings perfect.
We can control most things to do with our discs , but the weather which rusts discs , no !

i cant fault god speed at all, i have the g-hook discs all round on my hawk sti and the kevlar pads and apart from a slight bedding in concern which was probably my fault they are fine. after a few days they go rusty but it comes off within a mile or so. i also had all my brembos refurb'd in bright porsche red, turn around time was very quick and ian has always been more than helpful with any questions i had. top service from a top company.

They look really nice mate :thumb:

I am wondering if my discs are warped, I do get a horrible squeal especially when the car is reversing, not so much going forward, also at very slow crawling speed.
Getting the new Pagid brake pads fitted soon, not sure if they are up to the job or not, or may not last long? :)

Tell tale sign of warped disks is the screech under heavy or high speed braking. Also when braking hard if you get steering wobble then that would also be a good indicator

A screech wouldn't indicate a warped disc , that is either a dust build up or just the compound of pads , if you have a warped disc , you will feel shaking in the steering wheel when braking , and the faster you go , the worse it will get , some people think they have warped discs when they get shaking at a certain speed , which is usually a worn bush or ball joint

Thanks for ignoring me completely and my PM. Can you kindly not go around using pictures that dont belong to you. Using other peoples pictures only to try and make your self look better. Thats a poor act. Its bad enough you dont answer your emails.

Remove the pictures. I will only ask the once.

Harry
They are pictures I got off ebay , it was nothing to do with 'making myself look better ' but to show that Brembo discs also do the same thing as other had mentioned Brembo .
If they are yours , asking that much for them , i'd recommend cleaning the discs up first .
Maybe check your emails as I replied to your email the end of January you asking to become a dealer of our brakes ??
Pictures have been taken off
Cheers Ian

Hmm.
Sounds like I may have a worn ball joint, as when I hit over 70mph, the steering shakes :(

Could be balancing is out, as not long before I bought the car the front tyres were changed?

If you are getting shaking without applying the brakes, I'd suggest its not a brake issue.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Reckon it could be a cv boot, or the wheel balancing Is out :thumb:

LewisScoob 20 March 2019 09:39 AM

Wheel balance, tyre bulge or or a wishbone bush i'd guess
