Front shock mounting bolts
 

I am going to replace my drive shaft shortly to see if it helps with some mystery knocking. At the time I will be replacing the front shock mounting bolts as mine look like they will not survive the job, they are rusted to f...

I have found these on ICP LINK £40 seems a bit steep for 4 bolts! But needs must, however I have two questions, 1. is there anything similar for cheaper or better for similar price? 2. Should I replace for OEM spec or should I take this opportunity for an upgrade? I am not planning on doing anything major to the car, apart from a couple of niggles I am fine with it as is.

Be very surprised if yours are that bad if they are get the ICP ones bought as they are the camber bolts as well.

I'm sure there is no need to replace your current bolts. Soak them in penetrating fluid first. If the threads are intact they will be fine to use again. They are big pieces of metal, for them to rust beyond use, the rest of the car will be dust by now. Contact a breakers if you don't want to pay new price. I'd only use OEM.

Thanks I'll get the car into work into the impact wrench. It just felt like i was going to round off the heads,I have soaked them in penetrating fluid so will see if that helps

I ended up giving up on the n/s bolts and got the trusty Dremel to cut them off, which was much easier than I expected. I did managed to get the o/s bolts off just recently with a 2' breaker bar, and loosing them took a while even with that.

I had a nightmare trying to undo mine. rusted solid as yours were. ended up purchasing big impact gun for the job, but still needed heat to free them off. Bolts themselves were fine though once removed.
