Brembo gold sti Caliper upgrade on 53 blob
rebuilt my rear Calipers. Pistons and seals. Replaced handbrake shoes today and I noticed the new dust boots on the pistons are not staying seated and slide in and out withe the piston? The original brake Calipers had a retaining ring to hold the dust boot in position, but the Brembos don’t seem to have a retaining ring? Is this correct or am I missing something? Thx |
The Brembo outer seal has a 'return' lip that sits into the body - did you use genuine seals?? Never had any issue with original Brembo items |
Yes. It’s weird. The return lip as you say fits well and flush. But when brakes applied the seal just pulls out wth the piston and goes back in with it , almost as if the seal is too small? |
Have you put too much grease on when fitting them , you need to put caliper grease on the seal and piston when fitting them , and no grease on the dust seal , needs to be completely dry or they will come out as you're explaining.
we build loads of these with no issues . That's assuming you do indeed have the right seals in the first place cheers Ian |
Hi. Yes they are correct seals, but it may be a grease issue. Thanks for your input... |
