Power steering pump ? Steering rack ? Or knuckle ?
Lately I have noticed that intermittently if I'm driving straight ahead it sometimes feels like the steering wheel is "locked" and I have to sort of forceably move thevehegl left or right to unlock its whilst driving , almost like there's no power steering but it's more locked than heavy tho it's not constant and never more than a couple of times once I've done it it's fine fluid is fresh and correct level , belt is new and tight I'm thinking pump but it doesn't whine or anything , steeeing is heavy ish tho compared to other cars I drive . Pump , rack or steering knuckle ???? cheers |
Try lubing the steering uj....it might be seizing up. |
Have the exact same problem, just replaced the UJ which hasn't fixed it so had it back in and put on a shaker plate and actually looks like the drivers side bearing has play even though there is no symptoms and it's solid, so got a complete hub ready to get changed if that doesn't do it it'll be rack and pump next.

in my opinion first lube the u joint maybe seized.
i had same problem but not impreza. first removed rust then lube good grease be sure work smoothly if it's not work properly replace it. |
