Core drill hire?

Anybody know the the best place place to hire drill and 117mm diamond cutter around durham/newcastle area.

So we moved house recently and im fitting an bathroom extractor, decided on an in line fan I installed in our last house, but need to drill a 117mm hole in the gable end for the vent, dont have access from ladders outside as its above a conservatory/sunroom so want to core drill and fit vent kit all from inside, hopefully minimise blowout by going extra slow before breaking through, I have a drill powerful enough but been told I need a drill with a clutch in case it grabs?

Travis perkins or Brandon tool hire. Any tool hire centre will sort you out.

Last time I rented one it was fecked...waste of £50

I ended up buying a cheap generic Chinese set in a suitcase from Amazon for £90 ( this one No longer stocked but there are ones that look the same being sold under different branding). And to be fair it’s been great, I don’t have a clutched SDS drill (got nicked, never replaced it) so I use my Makita cordless drill/driver with the torque limit turned on. I even used it with a 127mm core which is way too heavy for the drill but it still coped and managed two course brick/breeze block on one 3Ah battery.

Takes a while...WILL MAKE A MESS. No matter how hard you try, but you do end up with a prefect hole.

Used it in spain last year to put some 5” extractor fans in...They don’t like terracotta bricks, took a enternity but still did the job with zero damage to the rendering and wall tiles...apart from red dust everywhere! No sure how they’d cope with old victorian clay-bricks or solid concrete, but used the 5” core six times now and it still has bite to it...not bad as I was only expecting to last a couple of times!

Oh might do that then, I realy didnt think the cordless would ve up to the job

I guess it depends on the cordless and the brick type.

But certainly my BHP452 did it using a single 4Ah battery pack. Not exactly ideal, but it’s the diamond that does all the work, so all the drill needs to do is have enough torque to spin it (don’t need to apply hard pressure, nor hammer).

I decided to buy a cheap set like above, cost £48 for set of 3 cores and adaptors. Used my cordless with torque limit on max and got through no problem with 2 small 2ah batteries.
Thanks for the idea, cheap diamond core held up great aswell
