To build a non road legal track Type R or not...

If you could get your hands on a Type R shell and build a track car but it wouldn't be road legal, would you? I'm currently weighing this one up as I've always fancied a Type R and was already thinking about the next developments for my V1 WRX track car. On the one hand I couldn't drive it to and from circuits, but on the other I could go serious with this one, flat boot floor etc. and not feel bad about cutting a rare car up...

Just interested in opinions really. I work away now, so progress would be slow anyway but there will be a good budget for a half decent build in the long term. Could end up a fantastic race car.

Wait, that's still for sale? Road legal?

It'll be double the price of the one I'm looking at, no doubt. Probably worth it as well, but probably not realistic yet. In six months deffo, but not yet.

haha, no it isn't but it seems to be the most revived thread on here with the most questions asking if the shell is still for sale (which it isn't) so thought I'd send you the link to see if we could revive it again! :D

Think there are already a couple of people on here looking for type R shells that can be made into track cars and not generally finding anything. You may have to look for some time and be very fast when one does come up.

Haha horrible **** :lol1:

Well, if I don't care about it not being road legal and being a bit beat up, I've found one. I think I might just buy it tbh. Most serious track cars aren't road legal anyway.

Very true. Also if you drive it on the track how it should be driven sooner or later you'll leave the track and I'd rather start from something that wasn't immaculate.

Indeed. I think I'll buy it but as I'm working away it won't get done very quickly. It's more a case of if I don't buy it, will I find one in two years and will they be £5k by then?! :lol1:
